Flysmallie Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 Well my plans to come back from vacation and start smallmouth fishing have been flooded out. My daughters want to go fishing and I'm thinking this is my only option right now.
Terry Beeson Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 Hey Ronnie... Glad to see you back safely. I'm assuming your family had a good time and you foot the bill... You have enough money left to afford gas to drive to RR? Wow... you ARE a budget minded traveler... either that or you hid some cash from Momma... Just wait til she figures that out.... Flysmallie Posted June 13, 2007 Author Posted June 13, 2007 I never hide any money from her I was brave enough on the trip to tell her about the rod that Michael made me buy. She actually took it pretty well. Of course I had her in a very nice restaurant, it was our anniversary, I gave her a nice gift, the kids were not with us, and several of those little fruity drinks didn't hurt either. One thing I will say about gas prices vs. going fishing. Gas prices will never stop me. When I was a kid in southern Oklahoma my parents didn't do as well as they do today. I guess you could say that we were very poor. I remember my dad paying for gas with change we dug up from around the house just so we could go fishing. That taught me that some things are way more important than money. My parents are doing very well at this time and my dad will spend whatever it costs to go fishing. I guess that is one trait that I did get from my dad. So if it gets up to $10 per gallon I'm still going. I may not eat, but I will fish. Besides have you seen the size of me lately? I could miss a few meals. Terry, if you ever need to go and don't want to pay for the gas, let me know. I'll take ya. Of course you will have to put up with me for the day. Not really sure if that would be considered a good deal or not??

Did they have little umbrellas in them? I usually have to ply Cindy with a few strong Crown and Cokes... Hey... As Toby Keith says, "She's my little WHISKEY GIRL!" drew03cmc Posted June 14, 2007 Posted June 14, 2007 Yeah, I would love to be able to talk her into anything...she is more steadfast in her wants than I am. I will usually sacrifice a day of trout fishing for a day of bluegill fishing in the interest of not sleeping on the couch. Andy
Steve Smith Posted June 14, 2007 Posted June 14, 2007 The water at Roaring River is fine Ronnie. We only got around a inch or so in southern Barry County this week. The heavy rains all stayed north of this area. The river is maybe up six inches or so, and nothing like the James or Finley. I fished last night and there are lots of fish in the river left from last weekends free fishing. The dry fly action is hot late in the afternoon up to the horn so bring your gnats. ___________________________ AKA Flysmith - Cassville MO
Terry Beeson Posted June 14, 2007 Posted June 14, 2007 Will the rain north of there affect RR in a day or two? I know the Spring River in AR can become stained a day or two after a big rain north of Mammoth Spring... Steve Smith Posted June 14, 2007 Posted June 14, 2007 I don't think it will stain unless we have some heavy local downpours Terry. The water out of the spring is well filtered before it exits. Most of Roaring River's color would come from run off and overflow from Dry Hollow's drainage. In any case, it needs a good washing out ___________________________ AKA Flysmith - Cassville MO
