Rusty Posted June 15, 2007 Posted June 15, 2007 How can a ISP sale advertising space on your email page, when you are paying said ISP to provide eamil? I sent them a email telling them my displeasure of this new BS, and their reply was...So they can provide superior world wide service. I don't care about world wide service, all I care about is ME. I am after all, paying a premium price for their service. I don't want to see flashing ads when I look at my email page. Can they do this after you have been in a contract with them? Shouldn't you be able to have a say what is on your home email page? Now that I have vented a little, I am going to start another thread on LCD flat panel TV's.
Danoinark Posted June 15, 2007 Posted June 15, 2007 Rusty sounds like you are getting your email from ATT's web based email. Why not use one of the email programs, such as firefox or outlook express. jdmidwest Posted June 15, 2007 Posted June 15, 2007 A software program like Outlook or Thunderbird will let you check your email on the computer and not the web. You will still have to use the web to view the bulk mail folder to make sure yahoo did not block a good email if you have their spamblocker turned on. I especially like the ad for the $14.99 DSL when they won't upgrade their equipment out here in the country. I have to pay $16.95 for the slow as dial up till then. You can set your home page to be whatever you want. I have mine set to CNN. I deleted the program as a possible problem and it fixed my issues. I am going to try Outlook Express in the near future.

Rusty Posted June 25, 2007 Author Posted June 25, 2007 I switched to Firefox/gamil the other day and have had no issues until last evening. A buddy notified me that all my mail being sent to him was alerting his Norton Anti-virus. He also said that another person who uses gmail is doing the same thing.
