27TH ANNUAL GREATER BOLIVAR

POLAR BEAR RUN SET FOR FEB. 11

(SPRINGFIELD, MO Jan. 19, 2006) – Part of the Ozark Mountain Ridge Runners’ Triple Crown Series, the 27th Annual Polar Bear Run is set for Saturday, Feb. 11, commencing at 10:30 a.m. from the Southwest Baptist University Student Union.

Sponsored by Citizens Memorial Healthcare and the Roy Blunt YMCA of Bolivar, the event includes a One-mile Fun Run, 5K and 10K run. The One-mile Fun Run begins at 10:15 a.m., while the 5K and 10K runs begin at 10:30 on Pike Street, adjacent to Plaster Stadium on the SBU campus. The race winds through residential neighborhoods and commercial districts, finishing at its starting point on Pike Street.

Registration

$11 [preregistration] Preregistrations are nonrefundable.

$12 [day of race]

1. Register online at bolivarymca.org. Click on ‘Special Events’ and ‘Register Online’ or choose ‘Polar Bear Registration form and information’ to download a printable registration form.

2. Preregister by mail to: Roy Blunt YMCA of Bolivar, 1805 G West Broadway, Bolivar, MO 65613.

3. Register in-person at the Bolivar Area YMCA, or at any Ozarks Regional YMCA branch in Monett, Springfield or Hollister.

4. Register on race day at the Southwest Baptist University Student Union between 8 a.m. and 9:45 a.m. Sorry, no registrations will be taken after 9:45 a.m.

*NOTE: After Thursday, February 9, please register ONLY at the Bolivar Area YMCA.

**Online registration and registration at other YMCA branches will end the Thursday before the race.

Awards

Runners receive the coveted “Polar Bear” sweatshirt and compete for awards in various age divisions in the 10K, 5K and one-mile events. Trophies will be presented to the top three in each division and the overall male and female, with ribbons to the first 100 participants in the One-mile Fun Run.
