brownieman
Funny you should ask Brownieman, there was a girl with him....and NO she was not in uniform. She was more like..... dressed for a picnic actually. LOL Is "dating while you work" a common thing.... Like a state employee perk, or something ? Well fishinwrench...guess you could call it a "state perk". Over the years I have seen several so called "guests" in MDC boats, trucks, etc. Have always wondered if these so called guests are covered by the states insurance. I have seen MDC trucks dropping and picking kids up from schools, frequently being used for personal use on state time...have seen MDC equipment being used on private property numerous times over the years. Several MDC construction employees (Design and Development I think it's called) homes sure resemble whatever projects they have worked on...you don't think, nah...surely not. I see certain MDC divisions vehicles parked at personal residences...have always heard it's because they are "on call". Have heard of MDC employees telling others they have personal expense accounts by which they are entitled to turn in meals and other job related expenses incured while on the job and have to show no reciepts...with the exception of motel bills. They receive these monthly or however often they are paid on top of their normal paychecks...don't know if there is any truth to this or if they are just bragging, whichever the case, sure bumps their pay but does not settle well with me if there is any truth to it. Anyway...far as seeing jet boats on the Niangua might as well get used to it. Sure can turn a nice peaceful morning on the river sour real quick, but, we as the taxpayer have no say in the matter although we are what enables them to function...we have no say in laws and regulations. Shouldn't the people have some say so in matters that involve us...guess not. State agencies regulate themselves and are held accountable by no-one. My friends say I'm a douche bag ?? Members trouthappy
It's lookin' good today (a little cloudy, and still a bit high...'bout perfect). The water feels awfully warm..... good for Smallies & Goggleye...bad for trout. The Trout I caught today didn't fight as hard as usual, and none of them even attempted to jump. Strikes were half-hearted and hard to detect, and once hooked they were sluggish. I'm gonna blame it on the warm runoff. I gotta take this opportunity to piss and moan about the jetboats. I don't like seeing them on the Niangua, and they are getting more frequent as time goes on. Got checked for my permit today by MDC....after they blasted through the run I was fishing...TWICE! How can they successfully enforce game laws from a darn jetboat? I mean, you can hear them coming from 3 miles away....and the last few "OFFICER/AGENTS" I've seen are NOT experienced river-jet operators, by any stretch of the imagination. (I specifically LOOKED for a PFD in the boat....they might have been stuffed somewhere, but I couldn't see them). Sorry, but IMO this is ignorant. Plus, from the boat operating "skill" I have seen...it's just a matter of time before one of these "agents" mow over a swimmer, fisherman, or a canoe. What a nasty headline that would be...if it didn't get "covered up". Wow! My wife and I had the same thing happen to us two weeks ago. We came around a bend in the river and I had a little sucker fish on or something. He was sitting right there in a jetboat. He asked me to pull over and checked my license- which I had on me for once! He had a young lady in the boat too who looked like she was along for the ride. After he checked my I.D. he motored off like he was on a mission. Our canoe bounced around in the water. My wife was not pleased at all But on a good note I caught a nearly 15 inch trout while we were floating. There was a spot near a riffle where the water was pooling up next to it. I cast a small green and yellow rappala into the calm water and worked it on the side of the riffle when all of a sudden- BAM! I hadn't caught a trout that big on Taney the last 3 or 4 times I fished it. I about sliced my finger off when I went to take the treble hook out of his mouth and he shook his big fat head. My friends took a picture, I'll have to see if I can get it from them and attach it! I'm going to take some guys over to that area on Sunday afternoon and evening. I hope to catch some nice ones again!
