Man slain over fishing pole the associated press Poplar Bluff — A southeast Missouri man died in the hours after he was involved in a fight over fishing poles. Tommy Haugen, 23, of the Stringtown area was pronounced dead Monday morning at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. Butler County Sheriff Mark Dobbs said Haugen accused a 17-year-old of stealing fishing poles from Haugen's friend, prompting a confrontation Sunday night in the teen's driveway. The teenager allegedly hit the victim in the head once with an iron pipe. The 17-year-old suspect is being held. That said its never a good idea to confront people in a threatening mannor. techo Posted June 27, 2007 Posted June 27, 2007 The real fight was about drugs and drug money. There is a good chance their lives were wasted prior to the fifteen minutes of fame. I wish we could see some fighting over fishing. At least it would be about something worth fighting for. Tim Carpenter
