Here is an article out of todays lebanon newspaper. I would guess that most all of these people were going to Mountain Creek or Prosperiene.

Checkpoint yields 76 arrests Friday

By LDR Staff

The Laclede County Sheriff’s Department reports 76 arrests made at a safety checkpoint set from 2 to 9 p.m. Friday on Route E about five miles northwest of Eldridge.

Those included 28 misdemeanor citations for possessing less than 35 grams of marijuana, 20 misdemeanor citations for drug paraphernalia possession, 14 traffic-related offenses, two citations for felonies of marijuana possession, one citation for a felony of LSD possession, one citation for a felony of possessing hallucinogenic mushrooms, three citations to minors in possession of alcohol and seven warrant arrests.

Twenty-five officers and three K-9 units were involved. Agencies involved included the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office and Posse, the Missouri State Highway Patrol drug and crime control division, the Missouri State Water Patrol, the Lake Area Narcotics Enforcement Group, the Lebanon Police Department K-9 unit and the Missouri Department of Conservation.

Doesn't seem out of line to me at all. The local streams have became very popular with the party crowd in recent years. They think of them as places to go and do whatever they want without consequence. :angry2::angry:

It worked well. Seems to me law enforcement could do a lot of good if they would do more spot checks at places like that.

I would rather be fishin'.

I wasn't directing the curb side spot check as out of line, just find it odd the the majority of findings were drug related vs. alcohol. Up here at LOTO these traffic related stops result in several DWIs not generally narcotics related stuff.

I am glad there is law enforcement doing what they do. I was just inquiring about the special occasion (location) for the set-up. Typically it might be because of some series of events held at the river, lake or whatever (holiday)is going on??

It could have been worse, they could have gone to the Dallas County side.

CMAC its simply Friday night, and I'm glad they nailed a bunch of them, the word will spread fast and they'll rethink their options.

Dunno...I'd almost bet that you could set up a check point exiting a church fish fry and find a similar number of minor drug violations. It makes a good headline, but drugs are everywhere.

I have seen on HWY60 east bound where they will set up a check point, put out a road sign before the checkpoint acknowledgin whats up ahead, but strategically place it next to a country road so people will freak out and try to turn around and they will have a squad car waiting on them. That's a good one!!!

It is sad, but drugs are everywhere.

take care.

 Sorry if I gave the impression that I was upset with your post, I was not.

I do get upset at the "party crowd" who think the rivers are their private partying grounds. I know not all of them do it but in general they make nuisance of their selves and leave a mess in the rivers. I don't mind them having a good time I just wish they would be cleaner and more respectful about it. I would like to see the law clean it up a little bit.

A lot of the accesses on the Niangua have a road that only goes 2 ways, for a ways without side roads. It would be easy for them to set up out of sight of Prosperine for instance, at 2 points, and have everyone in a net.
