GNSfishing Posted July 10, 2020 Posted July 10, 2020 I am wanting some feed back on Trolling Motors. I have had a MotorGuide Tournament Pro on order for 3 months now with no estimate when they may come available. So the question is do anyone here own a Lowrance Ghost or have used one and have any comments on on how they operate?? If you own one would you buy another?? Any pro's or con's on the operation of the Ghost trolling motor?? The Ghost is in stock and will ship immediately on purchase... I am a MotorGuide user from way back and that's why I wanted a MotorGuide. I had a MotorGuide Xi5 and loved everything about how it operated, anchor mode worked great, following a recorded track was great, everything was great but one thing and that was the bracket and how it deployed and retracted was a pain in the a#@ if you know what I mean. With my age and balance control anymore I could almost fall out of the boat when getting down on my knees to push the lever and pull the thing back up to the stowed position. So I sold it and went to a new backup MotorGuide X5 24 volt. Works great except I miss the anchor mode so that's why I ordered the newest MotorGuide Tournament Pro but 3 months waiting is getting old for a product that was rumored 3 years ago.. So if you have any information on or about the Lowrance Ghost I sure would like to hear your opinion and or experience with the Ghost trolling motor. I believe some guides are using the Ghost that fish TableRock Lake. Thanks for your help
Bill Babler Posted July 10, 2020 Posted July 10, 2020 I think there about 32 threads on that topic in the Archives. Take a look back and you will find plenty of info and for sure check out the inter web as there are video after video out there. Good Luck http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
Members champ203 Posted July 10, 2020 Members Posted July 10, 2020 I have the Ghost and wouldnt hesitate to order a new boat with one, or replace an existing one with the Ghost. Flip switch is handy to help with the ergonomics that fit you best, or your preference to power button orientation. I am running lowrance graphs, so that integration is handy (although carbon or live units are needed for all the integration). Mine locks a spot better than any other boat I have been on. This may just be how mine is rigged vs others I've been in. Power to spare too! The main thing i struggled to get used to was the fly by wire....it is touchy...but doesn't take long to get comfortable with. A couple things I dont like, the blue power led light and the indicator light on the head unit are very bright at night. Blinding actually. I placed some electrical tape over the power led and just deal with the indicator lights. The unit, above the water is a bit noisy....I have to believe that has to transmit into the water somewhat...it hasnt seemed to negatively impacted my catches tho..... Again, I'd go lowrance due to my graphs, but I'd give the Garmin Force a hard look if I was Garmin graphs and minnkota if Humminbird graphs.....in my opinion they all have pluses and minuses depending on your setup and personal preferences.
