Micheal Kyle Posted July 7, 2007 Posted July 7, 2007 What a night, I think that the word must have been out to fish on Friday night because it looked like a Christmas tree in some of the areas with everyones different colored lights. After the seminar got over they ran the water until about 11:30, after they shut the water off we started down by the point and had about 20 between the three of us . We then met up with Duane and his group and switched spots and we got to fish the narrows and we had about 10 between the there of us nothing of real size avg fish was about 14-15 inches. We then moved up to the cable and it was on, there were a couple of guys in the group that had a fish every cast for a while. We fished from 12-4am and the bite was very good. We were catching most of the fish on various colors of mohair leech's some used purple all night one guy used a white leech and the others used a black Mohair. The water took a long time to fall last night when we left at 4 the water was still 3 tenths high. Not a problem for fishing just something that I noted. They must not have been letting water out down at power site. I could be wrong. Just my guess it has been falling like a rock here recently but last night it was very slow to go down. I think if you do one or two more of these, there will be more people fishing at night than during the day!! Wanted to stay and fish, but duty at home called... Here are a few pictures I took. Made one drift from the cable bouncing jigs off the bottom and caught a few. Stopped at Lookout and fished till dark. Tons of rainbows there. White was the color of the evening. 4 units running for most of the afternoon. That's why it took so long for the water to drop out. When they run that much water for 8-9 hours, it takes a long time to drain. Oh yea- I was fishing with a friend who's family was leaving today and I hadn't taken him fishing... thus the reason I couldn't make the school. Summer's a busy time! Lots of obligations.
BrianK Posted July 7, 2007 Posted July 7, 2007 I agree Terry. Great info last nite. I showed up a little late but the on-water tips more than made up for it. I'd tried Taney at nite 3 times prior to last nite with minimal success....let's just say last nite was a different story. It was the little things that made the difference....the strip set, throwing a little mend in to get the fly deeper, etc. Not to mention Michael's go to spots. oh and the mohair leech helped too. ok everything made the difference. There was a v-bottom boat there when we passed up but they left right before we got to them. I saw them net a trout. I think they were fishing jigs too.
