Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted July 9, 2007 Root Admin Posted July 9, 2007 Don't know if you've seen the google ad for the Green River or not but it's a great read. I fished it a dozen years ago and I tell you, if you go and not catch a fish, it's well worth the trip. The canyon and river is breathtaking. I'd recommend the trip to anyone.
catman Posted July 9, 2007 Posted July 9, 2007 I was in the area a couple of years ago, some kind of country for sure..I hope we are talking about the same Green River in south western WY correct? I was born at night, but not last night. Odds are with the prepared...
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted July 9, 2007 Author Root Admin Posted July 9, 2007 There's the Green that runs into Flaming Gorge Res. and then there's the tailwater below the lake, also the Green. The tailwater is where I fished. It's in NW Colorado but I think it might border Utah and cross a bit. Not sure.
Terry Beeson Posted July 9, 2007 Posted July 9, 2007 The tailwaters actually start in Utah from the Flaming Gorge and travels east into Colorado for a bit, then back into Utah. You cross it in Utah on I-70 in Green River, UT... (I remember that from a trip when I was a teen...) Then it empties into Lake Powell in SW Utah... It's on my "got to fish" list... KATroutman13 Posted July 9, 2007 Posted July 9, 2007 We had a couple of amazing days on the Green in July of 2003. First day my buddy landed a brown, bow and cutt all over 20 inches. The next day was my day with a brown over 20 and a bow over 20. We got a good "tip" from a guy to be there at dusk. It was one of the most beautiful things I'd ever seen in my life. You'll understand why they call it "Flaming" gorge and the view is even better as the water starts to dimple with rising fish for as far as you can see. We had no clue what they were, but the fish were taking griffith's gnats as quickly as we could put them out there. What a great trip!
catman Posted July 10, 2007 Posted July 10, 2007 The place we stayed at was at Brown's Park Store & R.V. Park the address is in Maybell,CO but it's a ways west from Maybell to Brown's Store in the middle of nowhere 1 mile from the Utah line in NW CO. great country. As a matter of fact I might just end up there about the 9th of Aug. Taking my yearly motorcycle trip to CO,WY & MT we will see how our trip goes and where we end up. I was born at night, but not last night. Odds are with the prepared...
