Members SasquatchIsReal Posted July 16, 2007 Members Posted July 16, 2007 Hey guys and gals, I'm posting this up to see if I can get some advice and learn a bit about the area. I have recently begun flyfishing, and gotten the family quite interested fishing (not the fly part of it). Last weekend, I took the wife and kids to the Dewey Short Visitors center and hooked them up with some worms and such, and they caught a mess of sunfish etc. Had lots of fun. Well... we were considering going fishing again next weekend, and somebody suggested that we fish on the Taneycomo side for trout. So here's the question list for those of you inclined. What is your advice for relaxed family fishing on the Taneycomo side, where we would be interested in a bit of catch and keep for dinner? I might want to bring my flyrod, but the kids would be using casters. All from the shore. Artificial or live bait? Above or below fall creek? If below where are some good areas to come in. I hope I'm not rude asking these types of questions here as I'm a newbie to these forums. Thanks
Zach Bearden Posted July 16, 2007 Posted July 16, 2007 Well up at the dam down to somewhere you cant use bait (powerbait minnows worms etc) but you can use spinners and such. Remember there is a slot limit there that is from 12-20 inches on rainbows and you cant keep browns till they are 20+ inches... Someone like Leonard can give you more info on the area "Its clearly Bree time baby!" Member: 2009 U.S. Youth Fly-Fishing Team. Danoinark Posted July 16, 2007 Posted July 16, 2007 There are a few public docks where you can take the family and chunk powerbait and corn. Phil can give you a list of places. You could call his shop at Lilleys Landing. Welcome to the forum. Dano Glass Has Class "from the laid back lane in the Arkansas Ozarks"

MOBass Posted July 16, 2007 Posted July 16, 2007 Try Rockaway Beach. I have taken my daughters down there several times and have done well on crawler and PB. Branson has some docks near the Landing that might be worth a try. There is also a dock down towards Forsyth that I have seen people do real well at. Hope that helps.

Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted July 17, 2007 Root Admin Posted July 17, 2007 There are some NEW fishing docks at the Landing. Saw them yesterday. Nice ones too. But the entry way hasn't been cut yet so you can't get on.. yet. You can fish off our dock if we're not too busy. Just check in the office when you're down.
