Wondered if anyone has been fishing the pothole area for walleyes recently I was also wondering how far up from K-dock I could motor saftley in my boat I have a 18ft ranger cherokee with a 115 prop which drafts pretty shallow but I would hate to ding my boat up I am looking to target some walleyes!

I haven't fished it but I can answer your boating question. K-Dock to the dam is about 7-8 miles. You could run it but to save gas I'd put in at River Run just a couple of miles below the dam. Much better ramp too. From there up you'll have lots of trouble. Very shallow. I'd drive up and look at the Pothole area before boating up. Like I said, I haven't seen it this winter so I don't know exactly what the depths are. I wouldn't risk a prop or lower unit over it.

You can't run safely to the Pothole. There are reports of some "eyes being caught between Beaver and Barker. Its not that much farther to Beaver to put in.

It's not as low as it was several years back but it's getting there. There's a shoal just up from the mouth of Swan that will come into play real quick as far as boat traffic- and as far as fishing.

I haven't fished pothole since Nov. but it was super shallow then. Are the walleye between Beaver and Barker being caught on points or mud flats. How deep are the fish holding?

So how many millions of dollars in rogues do you think someone got out of there as the water got low. I had meant to go down there when it got low again like that to try and get some lures but I forgot.

I think most of them float off. I've noticed that if you give one a minute or two it will rise off the rock its snagged on. Theres a lot of line, thats for sure.

Does your handle indicate a fish and a creek you're partial too?

Bryant Smallie You know as well as I do how many rogues i've lost up there the last few years. I went up their after church the other day and it was amazing. It is is amazing looking at it now compared to when it was up so high. The worst part about the whole thing, they have now put up a sign prohibiting wading past the cable. to answer your question about the rogues, they had already been picked over, only saw a few crusty sliders.

I've never fished pothole.

I'm off work tomorrow and thought I'd go check it out.

I don't really care what I catch.

Just want to learn a little about it & catch a few fish.
