Dry flies

I'll be fishing Taney next week. I've had some decent luck with dry flies in the past this time of year and I was wondering if anyone has been doing any good before I come down. Also, when fishing dries I've noticed that the larger patterns tend to twist up on lighter tippets. Could a guy get away with a heavier tippet on taney to avoid the twisting without getting a bunch on refusals? What size tippets do you recomend?

Although I haven't tried them yet, dries should be working great from a boat and fishing the bluff banks under the trees. Linc has been using a dry as an indicator and some days he catches more on the dry than the dropper.

That's what I am planning next week. I tied some elk hair caddis varieties and plan to try zebra's under them.

Andrew I think you could get by with some larger tippet especially during periods of generation. I wouldn't rule out some foam hoppers fished along the banks on 4x for instance. This is the start of terrestrial season and if there is any wind I suspect size 10 and 12 hopper patterns would be very productive along the banks under trees or along grassy banks. Dano

This time of year is perfect for #12 stimulators in yellow and pale green. I usually stick with 5x tippet. No real reason, but if it isn't broke, don't fix it, I always say.
