My wife and kids gave me a gift certificate to Westover Farms for Fathers Day, and I was wondering has anybody been there or heard anything about it. I have never been to a private or pay trout stream before so I really don't know what to expect.

Never fished it, but several guys in the Ozark Fly Fishers (STL) group have and they said it is pretty nice and they caught quite a few fish!!

I've been there several times. The last time I called to make reservations I was told it had been sold and was no longer open to the public. ????? The times I was there the fish were suckers for a glo ball, hot pink, marabou leech, and dry flies in some fast below the hatchery chutes. Used to be called Springrise at Westover, but I assume it's the same place.

Westover is a really cool pay to play place. I was there in Feb with snow on and we had a blast! We threw a lot of micro eggs, Copper Johns, and even some midges. The fish readily took dries above the "garden" and I have wondered all summer if they would just HAMMER a hopper up there this time of year.

Not a bad place, for a golf course kinda feel. Was there in 2004, so not sure what may be changed with the new management(nice new website!). Caught a lot of fish, but I prefer the more natural setting that Windrush Farms offers. And yeah, glo-balls were like crackrock.

A couple shots of Springrise from my '04 visit.
