Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted August 17, 2007 Author Root Admin Posted August 17, 2007 They didn't tear the engine down- no reason to really except to find out what happened. They may call me at some point if they have time to. Yes- 24k miles. It ran fine coming home. Got 2 mpg better gas mileage than the old one.

Members Tyler Posted November 13, 2008 Members Posted November 13, 2008 I'm pretty sure the 3.3 has a timing chain, not a belt, glad to hear your back on the road. I assume with the lower mileage engine discussed earler? It has a belt. I couldnt ever ask a customer paying for a costly repair without know what actually went wrong. But somewhat understandable when your needing to get home. As for the better gas mileage it prolly has to do with newer ignition related components. Not to mention i can't forsee any carbon buildup on those valve with that many miles. So they would be closing all the way and providing better cylinder compression to combust the fuel better. This provides more horsepower and the end result moving the vehicle with less effort. Good luck with the new to you engine.
