Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted August 14, 2007 Root Admin Posted August 14, 2007 Greg Thompson, a pastor here in Denver, always turns me on to new Christian artist when I come to visit. This group lives here in the area and some of the band goes to his church. http://foolishthings.com They have a good sound. So many groups sound the same now a days- even secular groups. It's nice to hear something alittle different- and they do. Enjoy.
back2roots Posted August 15, 2007 Posted August 15, 2007 They do have a good sound! I've been a Christian musician, vocalist and engineer for over 40 years...I absolutely love hearing new groups, new sounds and the new ways peopel are getting Gods word out! It is been a long time dream of mine to be able to provide a venue here in the Ozarks for Christian Artists. The old City Limits theater would've been a good one. Ask your friend if he has any CD's from another Colorado artist named Shannon Waxelberg. She has one of the purest voices I've heard plus she writes and scores most of the stuff she records. Blessings, Bill If you liked the sound....Thank the engineer!
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted August 15, 2007 Author Root Admin Posted August 15, 2007 Back in the late 70's, I organized a club called the Christian Concert Club where people paid a membership fee annually and we brought groups to town for concerts. We brought in Tim Shephard, Paul Clark and a few others before I left the area. While I was over Greg's house, he shared with us a video of alot of the old pioneers of Christian Music of the early 70's - here's the tapes: http://www.amazon.com/First-Love-HIstoric-...s/dp/B000AS1Q3W I've ordered it. We only got to listen to a couple of the artist. Brought back alot of good memories. I met Chuck Girard in the 80's and have emailed him a few times since. Would love to have him out for a concert but it's alittle pricey cause he's in CA, although he doesn't charge much, travel expenses would be high. I also know Phil Keaggy- I think he's still in Nashville but I haven't seen him in over 20 years.
back2roots Posted August 15, 2007 Posted August 15, 2007 Oh man...that is a great collection. My dad and I produced a Sunday morning radio show back in those days...I'd bet we used every song on that collection! Phil Keaggy is an amazing musician...I'd love to meet him sometime. Maybe next time the Millers (from up by KC) come for a visit, we could hook-up for a visit. Bill If you liked the sound....Thank the engineer!
