Center Punch Posted August 15, 2007 Posted August 15, 2007 fished from cardiac hill up to the beginning of maramec sat night(sunday morning) from about 1:30a.m. until 1:30 p.m. john, the one i usually fish with tagged along for some night action on the meramec. started slow. only had 3 between the 2 of us in the first hour and a half or so. it seemed that the spots that are usually good for us didnt produce that night and vice-versa. we really started getting in to them about half way up. the best fly for the night was Leonard's "instant classic fly" the P.M.S. it performed exceptionally well on the maremec as it always does on taneycomo. For the next 2 and a half to 3 hours we were hitting fish on a regular basis. we each had 15-20 fish and twice as many misses. the average fish went about 16 inches with the biggest being about 17-18 inches. john lost a nice one that he seemed to think was about 4 lbs and he usually underguesses fish. nonetheless, a real nice bow for maramec this time of year. I would have to rate that night well above average. Only 2 other fish were caught on a different sculpin pattern-all the others were caught on a pms(of course, we were using it most of the time) Well, it turned light on us and we just kept going. we caught more in the day time but hey, we could see. sight fished mostly picking up 3 and 4 fish in about every hole. from 6:00 am to about 1:00 we caught many fish but didnt really count them- i would say an easy 20-25 fish each. this was not with the pms but with various midges, sow bugs, etc. good night/day fishing but i was completely worthless at work today www.troutchapters.com >>>---------->(x) Jared

Members jrbhc8 Posted August 15, 2007 Members Posted August 15, 2007 I was worn out as well after that 12 hour adventure. So I went home, and slept for 12 hours straight. It's amazing how many fish we caught down there, being late summer and dealing with the heat. jrbhc8 www.troutchapters.com jrbhc8 ~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~ | <°)))>< | <°)))>< | | ¿ >°)))><
Leonard Posted August 15, 2007 Posted August 15, 2007 Does any one have a pattern for the PMS fly? I assume it is blood red..... jd.... This fly the "P.M.S." has been a really great fly.. and has produced some quality fish... I hate to say but this will stay under wraps till the first of the year. The fly itself has accounted for by my hand (and others I have fished with).. at least 12-15 fish between 20-25 inch fish (all browns)... and countless bow between 15-19in one of these nights if you get to Taneycomo.. I'll show it to you!! BTW... since there is no "new" flies.. Im sure most people has already seen it or will claim they have..I know of 7 people that has seen and used this fly. Thom Posted August 15, 2007 Posted August 15, 2007 I have seen and used the PMS as has my grandson Zach (13 years old) who used it sucessfully at taney. Thanks to Leonards generousity Zack has one and it will hit the water again. It does catch fish as did all of the flies that we used that night. Leonard set Zach us and turned him loose. We went downstream 30 feet and got rigged. Zach had landed and released 7 or 8 bows before Leonard and I had our lines in the water. Thom Harvengt
