Members tinner Posted August 15, 2007 Members Posted August 15, 2007 Cards beat the Brewers tonight. Bad division and they're getting hot towards the end of the season the might make the playoffs. 4.5 games back.
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted August 15, 2007 Root Admin Posted August 15, 2007 Wishful thinking... I haven't followed them as well as years past. They still have some great players with playoff experience. Going to a game on the 22nd... winning or not, they're fun to watch.
Thom Posted August 15, 2007 Posted August 15, 2007 Last year when they were in the down cycle about this time of year everyone was saying they will never make it. When Houston make their annual season ending rush everyone was saying .... The cards are out of it... When they won the division everyone was saying..especially the NY press it will be three 3 and out. When they won NL division everyone was saying it will be 4 and out. MAYBE HISTORY WILL REPEAT. It sure looks like a possibility now. Like you said Phil they are always an interesting team to watch. One never knows what team will show up. Seems like lately the GREAT CARDS are showing up and hopefull they will until the end of the season. Thom Harvengt
Members Eric Jaeger Posted August 16, 2007 Members Posted August 16, 2007 I'm not a big fan of the CARDS here on the west side of Missouri. But I would bet Tony will get them in the playoffs this year.
WebFreeman Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 They're up 8-1 right now. They way the Brewers are playing and a good showing in Chicago next will certainly make it interesting. It's surprising how competitive they've been considering Carpenter and Kinney having Tommy John surgery and Mulder w/ rotator cuff. Plus, Rolen has never recovered from his shoulder injury and all the other nagging injuries to Edmonds, Pujols, Molina, Kennedy, Encarnacion, etc. and the death of Josh Hancock. I hate to sound like a cliche spewing sports talk guy, but the playoffs are a new season. If they can get there, they have a chance. The last five World Series (2002-2006) have had at least one Wild Card team and a Wild Card team won it from 02-04. It's rarely the "best" team that wins it all in any sport. ::climbing off soapbox:: “Many go fishing all their lives without knowing that it is not fish they are after.” — Henry David Thoreau Visit my web site @ webfreeman.com for information on freelance web design.
