If you want to increase the likelihood of your son getting onto some trout - you might think about a day or morning at Taneycomo before or after you NFOW trip. Taney always fishes well.

So the drought hurt the fish, forgot about that. I always liked fishing the North Fork because it reminds me of some of the western waters. Would like my son to feel like he'd been somewhere unique...since we don't go that much. Greg, Taney is a good idea also - I'll have to makeup my mind what we're going to do.

I have to agree with brian...Taney is an excellent fishery if you don't mind standing behind a giant cement wall surrounded by fisherman...a totally un-natural setting but plenty of fish and people.

As far as the total experience of fishing a natural stream the NF is a beautiful river...depends on your personal preference.

Fishing what 'The Creator' has given us or fishing what man has made for us...for the sheer enjoyment of becoming "One with Nature" so to speak the choice to me is obvious...I'll take the seclusion as opposed to the crowds, but that's just my preference...kids tend to shed a different light on choices we make.

Don't get me wrong....I was fishing the White last weekend, I love the tailwaters! They defenitely have their time and place, I have to say it is really nice being so close to a nice Missouri trout stream and the tailwaters of Arkansas. Could I live in a better place?!?!?!?! B)
