Kansas Fly Fisher Posted August 19, 2007 Posted August 19, 2007 Good looking vessel Brian. I may have to bring some business your way. I've never fished from a drift boat before, but it sounds fun. John Born to Fish, Forced to Work KSMEDIC.COM
brownieman Posted August 19, 2007 Posted August 19, 2007 Neat looking boat...don't get me wrong but it looks like a giant toy, but it will be a money making toy, lol...when it's your living it's a good investment. You know how men are viewed, big boys with more expensive toys, i'm guilty myself to an extent. Brian S....from what little I have seen in pics of your drift boat it appears to be wooden...I would like to see a picture of it...to an old fart like me nothing compares to a wooden craft...it's just such a plastic world anymore...to me nothing compares to the beauty and nostalgia of wood but that's just me and ways of the past. BW...unlike wood that boat will last many years with little maintenance. bm My friends say I'm a douche bag ?? Avatar...mister brownie bm <><
Members KCfisher Posted August 19, 2007 Members Posted August 19, 2007 Congrats, Brian. Awesome boat. I've done some of my favorite fishing out of one just like it on the Roaring Fork and Colorado Rivers. I can't wait to get down there and try it out closer to home. By the way, did you get all of the info you need about the Niangua? I sent you an emial (tried anyway); if I can help at all, let me know.
Brian Wise Posted August 19, 2007 Author Posted August 19, 2007 Thanks guys. To be dead honest it is a big toy, but a big toy that is going to help me out a ton! I have been rowing an Old Town Predator (Big 3 man canoe) for the last 2 or 3 season and man are they work, crowded, no storage, no where for anything and barely enough room for some of my fisherman. In relation the Clacka barely weighs more than the Predator, the predator weighing in at 150 lbs and the Clacka at 260 lbs. The difference in rowing is going to be considerably easier too...which I know doesn't make sense but it's a water displacement thing. It floats just as high as the Predator. The comfort of my fisherman along with safety is going to be the highest points. And yes, my wife LOVES it...thank God! Brian My Youtube Channel
WebFreeman Posted August 20, 2007 Posted August 20, 2007 That is a very cool looking boat. How does it compare speed wise to the canoe? Seems like it might be faster. Maybe it's just the looks of it. “Many go fishing all their lives without knowing that it is not fish they are after.” — Henry David Thoreau Visit my web site @ webfreeman.com for information on freelance web design.
BrianK Posted August 20, 2007 Posted August 20, 2007 nice. looks awesome. Is the first lucky client booked already? I want to see pics of it frolicking in The Falls on the maiden voyage. b
Brian Wise Posted August 20, 2007 Author Posted August 20, 2007 Webfreeman, I guess it could be a "touch" faster but the big thing is my fisherman can stand up and fish in-between stops. With the Predators they hardly did any fishing during the times we were moving downstream to the next riffle--now they can a whole lot easier. BrianK, Yes, the first trip is booked and there is a slight chance there will be some photos at the Falls. ;-) Brian My Youtube Channel
