Micheal Kyle Posted August 18, 2007 Posted August 18, 2007 Sitting around the shop not knowing what to do for sure since the wife and kids are in Kansas city. Are they really going to shut it down well I guess my self and Duane are going to find out exactly what time they will run the water to. With a minor detour down to the Landing and and a four hour stoppage in play we found ourselves at 9 calling to see if the water was off and it was. The band was getting ready to play so we decided to sit and listen to the band while the water dropped out. I could not believe it, Phil was right he must have a high power than my charts and graph. But then wait what was that I just heard was that the horn yes, about 10:30 or so they turned one unit on and ran it until midnight. Well I barely made it out alive with my charts and graph thing.(LOL) We finally rolled into the parking lot and got ready to get it on. As the water drops I love to fish the point so that is where Dan, Duane, and myself headed not one sticking nibble, and I stayed for a while but absolutely nothing, and yes I did try the Kitchen Sink fly. I told Dan and Duane I knew where we could go so we made the move up by the cable on the south side. Yes, no skunk smell for any of us we fished up there from about 1-3:30 I am not for sure how many fish we caught but there were several cast that were made in a row with a fish being brought in to be released form the clutches of the (I finally got my fix fly fisherman), yes no more shakes.(LOL) Fishing was so so nothing to brag about every fish that I caught last night was around the 14-15" mark but it was fun. The best three flies were a Blood Red Mohair leech, a Jungle Juice Mohair Leech and a white sculpin. I hope they shut the water off tonight because we will be waiting for another fix. Leonard Posted August 18, 2007 Posted August 18, 2007 since this post was already started I'll just add to it... guanlet and big hole was very slow.. but, did pick up a fish on a mohawk in the big hole... then went to the flat (just below outlet 1).. and there I picked up maybe 10-12. then I decided I would work the bank with a fly I have just started tying (you can say it almost looks like a double bunny.. twisted). the fly is unweighted, so I was able to fish in shallow and started picking up some really nice fish... just walking the bank... picked up 3 nice bows one was maybe 18 the other 2 was 16-17... the other 5 was in the 14-15in range... and 1 brown the was maybe 7in if he was an inch.... I think he was the "hardest" hit I had all night..LOL Leonard http://www.taneycomonights.com
BrianK Posted August 18, 2007 Posted August 18, 2007 sounds great. What a difference a night makes. I figured with 'cooler' weather coming, I'd miss the shutoff by a night or two. Looking forward to October. Haven't fished Taney yet in the fall. Michael, i'll need a new rod for big browns, smallies and Alaska next year! b
duckydoty Posted August 18, 2007 Posted August 18, 2007 I'd have to call it a very good night all the way around. Good beer, good people, good charts and graphs, and good fishin.
