I benefit a great deal from all the information on this site. Thank you all. I only get down for a few days in May and a couple weeks each July. We missed our July trip this year so I have been down fishing the Dam area for the last 3 days. I went over to the spillway yesterday b/c I heard about the white bass bite. I saw the boys hauling in a few whites. However, I don't enjoy fishing with other boats within arms length. So I went over by myself to the sloping point to the North and West of the spillway and found a few nice spots out 35 feet deep with a crawler. Today I went to the island in front of the big cedar cove and found some fat nice spots on the southwest side of the island 35 feet deep over 60 feet of water on a crawler. If you go the go to the southwest corner work your way out about 40 yards keeping the back of your boat even with the dead tree on the southwest corner of the island. They are out there.

My best bite in many years was yesterday at the dock. We have a dock in little beardsley cove. There are a couple open slips just down from the end of the dock. The end of the dock is 50 feet deep so I figured two stalls in would be the magic 35 foot depth and boy was it. In an hour I caught 8 of the nicest big fat spots you can imagine. It was great fun and my 8 year old got in on the action too. Just dropped the crawler to the bottom and reeled it up one crank and they nailed it. I think what was so lucky is that no one is probably fishing these fish and they are not getting any pressure so I fat nightcrawler looked tasty.

Also did well trolling my favorite trolling bank just south of point #2 where you enter beardsley cove. I was using a deep running fat free shad in the green citrus(not sure what the actual color is called) color with fireline staying out about 40 feet deep. With the fireline you get the heavy pound test without the diameter and resistence of the heavy monofilament. Be careful there are a lot of trees in there and that's why I use at least 20 pound test to pull some out. I only have about 1000 wiggle warts in those trees on that bank.

Best of luck to you all. Thanks again for the info. I am going to try to sneak back for a few days in September.

Great report. More detailed than most on any forum. Thanks for sharing.

The whites... you broke the ice... not me!! Enough said- you all figure it out.

Very good report. Thanks. I'll keep the white bass thing a secret.

Bobby, nice report! But lets keep our cove out the the next one ok, just joking.. I also live in beardsley creek on the big creek side in leisure shores, you must be in twin island estates. I allways launch on the no-ski side, that is where our boat lanuch is and found some of those same fish on those deeper docks also, it's alot of fun huh! Glad to hear your son got to get into these fish also, I bet he had a blast along with dad!!

As far as the those whites yes they have been hit hard, I've been in there every morning with around 15 - 50 boats piled in the same area weekends are the worst, if you move around you can find your own batch out alittle deeper then all of those other guys. But once you do here they all come, so be ready... Use a smaller spoon 1/2 ounce you will get alot more bites. More than likely I will get beat for that information from some of the other guides, but oh well, go have some fun..
