Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted August 20, 2007 Root Admin Posted August 20, 2007 Headed upstream with Vince about 5 this evening. They had just started to run one unit. We ran up to Lookout and fished alittle, then ran to to Big Hole. We tried several things... Vince threw a jig/float, black, olive and pink jig and did the best on olive. I drifted a black zebra about 6 feet deep and did fair. Then I tied a red san juan under the zebra and caught a nice rainbow- that's it. Drifted twice and then drifted on down. At Lookout, they started dropping the water. We tried zebras, red, black and pearl and did well. If we saw fish on the surface, we adjusted the zebra to 18 inches under the float. If not, we dropped it to 3 feet. Drifted the bluff bank down to Fall Creek. Caught 30 plus each. Most were 12-14 inches but quite a few 14-17 and several about 18. Hard fighting and colorful. Just what the reports have been saying- Zebra Midges!
Leonard Posted August 20, 2007 Posted August 20, 2007 Nobody have a heart attack.. I made to the dam today about 10:30 and fish till 1:30.. I mainly stayed around outlet one and was watching some nice fish and then it hit.... RAIN.. RAIN... and more RAIN.. it was a down-poor... last about 15 minutes.. got back down to the water and started with a 5 inch strip leech... got 2 browns.. 1 was about 18in, the other was probably 20-21in... switched over to a sculpin (and it wasnt a little one!) caught 1 brown on it that was maybe 22in.. well the big boys decided to stop playing so I put on a float and a size 12 scud... without down sizing my line (I was using 8 pound Maxima) caught 6 more bows 12-15inchers.. and called it a day.. I did notice more big fish in the area... I did walk the bank alittle and there are some good ones!!! http://www.taneycomonights.com
