Booked my flight today... leaving 9/9 and heading back 10/8.

You guys went over to Margot in my boat! Or did you take 2 boats? Referring to the pic of the group and the boat. I see Jim got the windshield put on.

Those silvers put up quite a fight! If you haven't tangled with one, you can't imagine.

Bill just emailed me and said to post it here -

Quick little post from the last frontier. Getting ready to put Becky on a plane home, we have had a really nice time, however it has been miserable weather up until today. Went to Seward on tuesday and it simply poured all day. Had some great seafood and toured the small boat harbor in the rain. Also went to the marine life center and that was really nice.

Wednesday we went to Soldatna, and Kenei. If I would have to fish that crowed river or the Russian, I would just not come to Alaska, it was absolutely packed. There were drift boats by the dozen and raft parties that would make the Colorado River look deserted. I frankly have never seen that ammount of fisherman on taneycomo, ever. Fisherman on the Russian were litterly shoulder to shoulder in the pouring rain. Didn't look like a lot of fun but we had a nice drive.

Thursday we went to Mount McKenley and it was spectacular. WE started in a driving rain, but by the time we got there it was bright sun and beautiful. WE came back thru willow ak and crossed over hatcher pass. This is a 4000 ft. mostly gravel pass and it was raining cats and dogs. There were people out however and they were berry pickin and mining for gold in the little Su.

Today, Friday, we went to the Alaska Native culture Center and then to the Alaska Museum. Both were very nice and we had a great time. Going to miss her as she is leaving on the 8 oclock flight back to St. Louis.

Tomorrow I am headed for Kodiak, They say the Silvers are still in the mouths of the bays and fly fishing the salt is spectacular along with fresh run Pinks. You can wade the bays in front of the river mouths, and catch fish on every cast, so says our hosts. Did see a guy catch a nice silver at keni off the public fishing pier. Bird Creek, Little Susitna, Montana Creek, Six mile, Twenty Mile were fishing ok, but not great. WE viewed all these spots, and people were just flat shoulder to shoulder along with Ship and Campbell Creek. I don't see how a fish gets through.

Becky is taking the computer home and so I will say adue' for now.

One quick hitter for the lodge, we may be featured in USA Today as one of the most romantic fall places to stay in america. WE have been nominated by Maxcine Pinson a staff writer, and all her selections were published last year. Could be a really nice piece of advertising. Looking forward to seeing you at Naknek. Sincerely Bill

Phil,

I hope the boat picture didnt upset you.We took two boats as there was no way we all would have fit in one.Im not sure but there was also a day that Jim Or Phyllis came up the lake later because 2 of the guests got none of their luggage and they kept being told "it will be here in the morning".I think they finally at least got their own rods with about 2 days left in the trip.I dont know if you have ever had your rods and reels not show up, but it must be one of my worst nightmares.I ALWAYS carry my rods, reels, waders, boots and gortex jacket ON the plane. That way if nothing else shows up I can still fish.

Please keep us posted on your trip coming up with pictures and commentary if you can.Im sure envious of your long stay.Tell everyone I said Hi and that I left my Filson coat on Jims dashboard.I hope he doesnt think it was my tip,HA HA.Tell Bill Babler I said Hi and you guys leave a couple of thirty inchers unscathed for the next group.Good luck and careful of the bears.Im like you in the fact that I really like the bears.I got home and looked at my pictures, and for every one of a fish or scenery, there were four or five of the bears. They made my trip extra special.

Tight Lines,

Moose

Phil...gotta bag big enouph for a stowaway, heck...I'd even put depends on and ride in the cargo compartment for a trip like that, lol.

I checked- and Delta is bad about not giving an inch. Check on's limited to 50 pounds and 62 inches, length+height+width. Fit in that and you may want to join the circus... or a show in Branson.
