MrsDucky Posted August 26, 2007 Posted August 26, 2007 There's nothing better than spending a weekend with no worries on the lake! We got down to Lilley's Landing right at 6 on Friday night, amid the lightening and thunder. It cleared off enough for John and Devon to go swimming around 9, though. John got up and went fishing "early"-ish (7 or so...) off the dock. Did pretty well! He caught 4 decent rainbows on orange and white Powerbait. (Yes, I admit it...we were spin fishing! We had a rough week, and it requires a little less thought and energy than fly fishing.) After he cleaned them, he came back to the room and got me. I managed to catch one, and he caught one more, before the mid-day slow down. After nap time, the boys went swimming again. We were going to go night fishing, but after the race, well, the thought of waking up Devon and going back out rather than just sleeping didn't seem too appealing! So, instead, we got up not so early (about 8:30) and headed down to the dock. Again, white Powerbait was a huge success! John caught 4 more, I managed to catch a few (I did catch the biggest one! ), and Devon hauled one in all on his own. He missed several more, and I lost a BIG one right at the dock. We had a blast, and enjoyed talking with the other fishers, swimmers, and vacationers there at Lilley's. I can bring home the trout...fry it up in a pan...and never let you forget I caught it! 'Cause I'm a woman!
Members bojack Posted August 26, 2007 Members Posted August 26, 2007 sounds like a great time. what size hooks do you all use with that power bait and spinning rigs?? thanks
MrsDucky Posted August 26, 2007 Author Posted August 26, 2007 We bought the drift rigs that Phil sells in the shop. Not a clue what size hook or weight, but the hooks held 2 Powerbait eggs. Also, the Gulp is technically the brand we used, as it did seem to outfish the Powerbait. Devon used one of each when he caught his fish-one Gulp white, and one Powerbait fl. white! I can bring home the trout...fry it up in a pan...and never let you forget I caught it! 'Cause I'm a woman!

Terry Beeson Posted August 27, 2007 Posted August 27, 2007 Powerbait less thought and energy than fly fishing? You'll get over that before too long... Sounds like a good getaway weekend... Members twhit Posted August 28, 2007 Members Posted August 28, 2007 Shoot MrsDucky, met you at the pool Saturday and didn't even know it! My family and I were just arriving as you and your son were leaving. Would have enjoyed fishing with ya a bit had I known it was the (in)famous Ducky family. Hey, btw, Newman actually brought it home it one piece on Saturday, how bout that. First time to enjoy a little dock fishing with my 3 year old boy. He has ants in the pants and hard for him to sit and watch for a pole to twitch. Still, pretty proud to say that my little guy has started fishin with Pops. (Can't wait until he can flyfish with me!!!) Have to say that we caught two in the hours time that we actually got in on the water. He reeled in one and was so excited I thought he was going to jump in to get the fish! I do have to say that Lilley's is the best. Great folks all the way around. Ben was very helpful on the dock and the young lady working in the office saved us with a suggestion on a rainy Friday night when we needed an activity to get out of the cabin--Playtime Pizza! Best of luck to ya and maybe we can meet up again on the mighty Taneycomo!
