DeepDiver75 Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 I was interested in going down this year but am not a member of FFF. Besides costing a couple extra bucks at the door will not being a member restrict me from attending workshops or classes? Also wondered if you had to register for everything ahead of time or will they have demonstrations available for the general public. Has anyone tried to camp at Quarry park that weekend or will it be full with the event going on? Thanks for help with these questions.

It does cost a few bucks extra, but not being a member does not restrict you from any of the seminars, workshops etc. You can go to the FFF southern council website and pre register for certain instructions, seminars etc. I am talking about the ones that have an extra fee. There are also casting demo's and there will be certified casting instructors who will be on hand to help individuals also. I bet you could get a spot at Quarry if you call and reserve one now. Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted August 29, 2007 Root Admin Posted August 29, 2007 If you haven't been... it totally worth every penny.
Terry Beeson Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 YES... YES... YES....!!!! WELL worth every penny. FFF member or not, if you have ANY fondness for fly fishing (did I use enough "f" words there?) you should attend Conclave at least once... You'll be back... It's worth the price of admission just to see some of the fly tying that is going on... DeepDiver75 Posted August 29, 2007 Author Posted August 29, 2007 I've already taken the Friday and Saturday off work and plan on being there for sure. It sounds like a good time and a great place to meet other folks like me who love to flyfish. I just didn't want to show up and find out that everything had to be pre-registered for and not get to see anything. I'm actually thinking about trying to pre-register for John Wilsons advanced nymphing techniques on Friday. Havn't met John personally but have heard good things about his fishing ability and lord knows I could use some teaching . Look forward to possibly seeing some of you there or on the river (which is where I plan to spend most of my time if SWPA cooperates that weekend!). Thanks for the info, it's appreciated.
Members Fishing Milwright Posted August 30, 2007 Members Posted August 30, 2007 I noticed that the pre registration form must be in by Sept 15. Will an individual be able to see the fly tying demonstrations if you haven't pre registered. Will any of the casting instructions be available if you register at the event. Fishing Milwright

Fishing Milwright Absolutely. You don't have to pre register unless its one that requires an extra fee, or has a limited number of participates. You can view all of the fly tying, demos, fly casting and attend seminars etc for the admission price. Dano Glass Has Class "from the laid back lane in the Arkansas Ozarks"
Terry Beeson Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 Most of the Conclave has no limit on numbers and a lot of it is at the cost of admission including the fly tying demos. First, you will find a big room full of about 60-80 fly tiers of all types who will show you how they tie a particular fly and some will even give you a fly they tie while you watch. Then you have the tying coaches who take turns showing specific fly tying techniques you ask for. Then, there are fly tying demos by individuals who tie and have a camera on the vise showing the tie on a big screen TV. All of that is at no extra charge. DD... If you want in JW's nymphing session, you better hurry... it fills up fast and may be full already...
