Danoinark Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 Tim I have to agree that it would be worth the price just for the convenience. Also I would presume that the conservation dept would like to have some cash flow and this would certainly generate it. Now if the parks and fisheries boys are looking. Keep the price the same for us out of staters like you do the trout permits Dano Glass Has Class "from the laid back lane in the Arkansas Ozarks"

gonefishin Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 I am not sure what we are talking about here. Are we talking about an annual permit or are we talking about getting out of having to pay to fish in the parks? If we are truly talking about an annual permit. What I would like to see is an annual permit for any fishermen who wishes to pay the price. What should an annual park permit cost?? Lets say just for argument sake that a person could buy an annual permit for the price of fishing 1 day per week or $3 per week. $3 X 52 weeks per year =$156 bucks for an annual permit. That would seem a reasonable fee to me and I would certainly be willing to pay it. What about anyone else? I would rather be fishin'. Members McCloud Posted August 30, 2007 Members Posted August 30, 2007 I think my point was missed-Missouri presently has such a permit that allows you to fish year around and C&R in the form of a $7.00 trout stamp. One could utilize that below any trout park -Taneycomo and the numerous other springs/rivers.I believe that $3.00 and a wait in line is very little to expect from the enjoyment that I get watching families with kids catching fish at our parks. My other question would be that if that proposal were to materialize would the season be a year around deal?.After the final horn blows on October 31st,I have almost 25% of the year where presently there is not any fishing allowed for the frying pan. P.S. The concessionaires at Roaring,Montauk, and Maramec do truly a great job of getting my tag in a timely manner and for what it's worth the coffee is only .25 a good bargain.
brownieman Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 Good points from everyone...interesting. It's hard to please all...seldom happens. IMO and as Dano said it should not affect any other fees in or out of state...just an option, whatever. You bet the mdc is watching...imo by voicing genuine concerns on a public forum pulls a little weight in the decision making progress. Who knows it better than the ones who fish it....could matter and nothing lost if it don't. mho bm My friends say I'm a douche bag ?? Avatar...mister brownie bm <><
Chief Grey Bear Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 What would make it different from how they police the parks now? If they stop and ask you for your permit you show it to them, what is hard about that. You have to carry your permit with you, if you are fishing don't you? You should carry it with you at all times. The C&R permit wouldn't be any different than your fishing liscense, if you buy the C&R, fishing, and your trout stamp at the same time you only have to carry one. Of course if you buy them seperatly then you would have to carry three permits, just like you would now. Most of us would buy all three at the same time. I think the permit would be the same price for nonresidents just like todays trout stamps. Well I can tell you this, I have never been checked by anyone for anything. And I have been going there for 25 years. My point about this, and you are not seeing at all, is every Bubba and Joe Bob is gonna come out of the hills with your $20 permit and keep stringing them up. But for now when they come to get their 2 or 3 or 5 stringers full they are at least paying $3 a whack to do it. And don't think for a minute it aint happening. timsfly Posted August 30, 2007 Author Posted August 30, 2007 You guys are right, there will always be people taking to many fish regardless of the type of permits they have. The good thing about a C&R permit is if you don't want one don't buy one, but if you do go out and get one, can't make everybody happy. But I think a C&R permit would be a great option. Thanks for all the opinions, I hope the guys in jeff city are taking all of this in. Chief Grey Bear Posted August 31, 2007 Posted August 31, 2007 It would be nice if it could work as you are thinking it would Tim. But in my view it would be just to wide open to abuse. Glad you brought this up though, some of the post completly surprised me. Chief Grey Bear Posted August 31, 2007 Posted August 31, 2007 With that being said if 500 catch and release fishermen bought C&R permits that would allow for the stocking of 7500 trout for our use in restricted zones. Thanks Why would they stock any trout? With C&R there is no loss of life. In a perfect world, we could say that 7500 were saved. That is until Bubba and Joe Bob show up after spending their $20. Now if the fee were like GF stated, well that would make much more since to me, but then who the heck would buy one? Then again though, that would lessen the Bubba factor.
