Troutn Posted September 1, 2007 Posted September 1, 2007 Well Duane, I will be down there for sure tonight. I have a Springfield Cardinals game to go to at 6:10 and as soon as it is over I am heading to Taney. I might have to bring some cool drinks down with me so you guys can take a refreshing break and give me a chance to get dressed. If you carry your phone with you while on the water i'll give you a holler when I get there, if your # is on your card. If not, pm me or i'll just catch up with you on the water. Nathan
duckydoty Posted September 2, 2007 Posted September 2, 2007 Just got back from fishing last night. Over all it was a very good night. Started at KOA and picked up a couple on black pine squirrel and electric blue mohairs just dead drifting. Worked all the way down to Fall Creek. Just above Fall Creek I caught my first Taneycomo Bat on an olive pine squirrel. If you ever hear a whirling sound on your back cast----It Is Not A Good Sign. While down at Fall Creek the moon came up over the horizon and I started catching fish on the olive pine squirrel. Slow stripping this time. Very slow stripping. After fishing down on that end for a while we went up to the cable on the south side and the bite was on pretty good up there on white mink and white zonkers slow stripped. Fished up there about an hour then went down to the rebar and did pretty good there. My favorite way to fish that hole at night is to stand by the 1st clump of rebar and cast to the south bank in the direction of the telephone pole up on the hill then just let it drift and hold on. If you dont get a bite in the swing give it a couple of strips then let it sit for a few seconds. Works all the time for me. Picked up 8 or 9 fish doing this on size 10 white mink with a small conehead. Worked the gauntlet almost all the way down to the big hole and picked up 6 or 7 more fish stripping the mink. Went back up above the rebar riffle and picked up a couple of more fish then back up the to cable on the north side and it was still hot up there. This was the first time I've fished from Fall creek to the cable. Ended up with over 60 fish---But fished for over 12 hours. Cant wait to do it again. duckydoty A Little Rain Won't Hurt Them Fish.....They're Already Wet!! Visit my website at.. Ozark Trout Runners
Troutn Posted September 2, 2007 Posted September 2, 2007 Great report. I cried wolf again. I got out of the ball game a lot later than I anticipated and had to do some church'n this morning so decided it was best to stay home. There's always next time I suppose! Nathan
Danoinark Posted September 2, 2007 Posted September 2, 2007 Excellent report Duane, heck of a trip it sounds. That was a bunch of wading for sure. More than this old geezer is up for I think.... Dano Glass Has Class "from the laid back lane in the Arkansas Ozarks"
