Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted September 3, 2007 Root Admin Posted September 3, 2007 Alot of short crappie? That's what I usually get when I fish there. Sounds like fun!
slider Posted September 3, 2007 Author Posted September 3, 2007 WE DID CATCH A LOT OF SHORT CRAPPIE. USUALLY THIS TIME OF YEAR THATS ALL WE CATCH 6 TO 8 INCH. YOU CATCH 3 TO 4 SHORT FISH TO EVERY KEEPER. IT DOES KEEP YOU RELING IN FISH ALL THE TIME THOUGH. DONT EVER GIVE UP MOSES WAS A BASKET CASE ONCE!
adjust555 Posted September 5, 2007 Posted September 5, 2007 When you say beetles.Do you mean beetle spins. If so what are you using with them and what colors? If not please explain. Help would be greatly apreciated. thanks, Vince
gonefishin Posted September 5, 2007 Posted September 5, 2007 Did ya pick up any marble eyes? I would rather be fishin'. "Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote." Benjamin Franklin, 1759
vonreed Posted September 5, 2007 Posted September 5, 2007 He means the "beetle' off of the beetle spin. Purple. Put onto a small jig. 1/16 or 1/32 size jig. I know this cause I learned from him, lol. Although the purple swimming minnows do pretty good also.
slider Posted September 5, 2007 Author Posted September 5, 2007 VINCE, IT IS THE BODY AND JIGHEAD FROM A BEETLESPIN. THE COLER WE USE MOST ARE PURPLE, BLACK, AND BLUE. THE BLUE WE DYE WITH GARLIC DIP AND DYE IN BLUE. I HAVE MIXED SOME RED AND BLUE AND MADE A REAL DEEP PURPLE, I DONT THINK IT MAKES MUCH DIFFERENCE IN THE COLOR IF YOU ARE FISHING AT NIGHT, JUST MAKE SURE ITS A NIGHT TIME COLER LIKE THE ONES I HAVE MENTIONED. IF IM BUMPIG THE BOTTEM WITH 16OZ I WILL GO TO A 32OZ JIGHEAD. THE SLOWER I CAN FISH THEM THE BETTER I LIKE IT. I HAVE TRIED WHITE AND CHARTROUSE DURING THE DAY AND HAD SOME LUCK. BUT I FISH MOSTLY AT NIGHT. HOPE THIS HAS HELPED YOU. GF GOOD TO HEAR FROM YOU AGAIN. I DID CATCH 1 WALLY ABOUT 20 IN. A GUY BESIDE ME CAUGHT ONE A LITTLE LATER ABOUT THE SAME SIZE. VONREED YOU HIT IT RIGHT ON THE MONEY. SLIDER DONT EVER GIVE UP MOSES WAS A BASKET CASE ONCE!

Bittle Posted September 7, 2007 Posted September 7, 2007 Slider, Me and a fellow officer are thinking about hittin below the darn on monday night. We grabbed us some beetles and I was wondering do you fish that entire east side of the river or do you have some specific spots. I'm not trying to pry them from you just looking to catch some fish. You could join us if you like. We should be up there sometime monday afternoon or evening and fishing up into the morning. Bittle
