How far is the tailwater from Taneycomo? If I'm staying in the Branson area, what's the best way to get there and about how long would it take? (Trying to combine two trips here and take give my kids the opportunity to fish Dry Run) Do kids need a trout stamp or is there an access fee similar to the MO trout parks? Thanks!

I would take Highway 65 South to Harrison, then taken 62/412 to Mountain Home. Take the 62/412 bypass to Highway 5 South, go 10 miles to the y, go left 2 miles to the dam. Dry Run is the creek that runs into the river near the campgrounds. There are several access points. It would take you less than 2 hours to Norfork. There are no permits or licenses for those age 15 or below.

No problem roundtrout. I needed to mention that at that Y there is a store, there are signs there pointing in the direction of the dam.

Have fun and let us know how you do.
