timsfly Posted September 7, 2007 Posted September 7, 2007 Grateful for the rain, and the river is still in good shape, it is cloudy but not to muddy, you can still see fish here and there. the falls are open just a bit, so the spring has come up a bit, we have received about 4" of rain here at the park, and it is still falling. here are pics of the river http://s171.photobucket.com/albums/u294/ti...nt=P9070055.jpg http://s171.photobucket.com/albums/u294/ti...nt=P9070054.jpg http://s171.photobucket.com/albums/u294/ti...nt=P9070053.jpg Tim Homesley 23387 st. hwy 112 Cassville, Mo 65625 Roaring River State park Tim's Fly Shop www.missouritrout.com/timsflyshop
Kansas Fly Fisher Posted September 7, 2007 Posted September 7, 2007 Guess I'll hold off coming down this weekend. Thanks for the update. John Born to Fish, Forced to Work KSMEDIC.COM
techo Posted September 7, 2007 Posted September 7, 2007 Same here. We were headed down for a fishing/camping weekend, but will have to wait a few weeks now. Thanks for the information. Tim Carpenter
timsfly Posted September 7, 2007 Author Posted September 7, 2007 The rain has stopped and the river has not flooded or really came up very much, but is still off colored. It will remain good unless we get a lot of rain tonight. Tim Homesley 23387 st. hwy 112 Cassville, Mo 65625 Roaring River State park Tim's Fly Shop www.missouritrout.com/timsflyshop
timsfly Posted September 8, 2007 Author Posted September 8, 2007 Just checked the river, everything is still good, can't tell if it is still murky, it was to dark at 5:30 but the water level is about the same as it was last night, the fishing was good last night, I put on a # 16 flashback sowbug and caught 4 on it before it broke off, put a olive #14 woolybugger on and it caught 3 fish, put a black woolybugger # 12 on and caught fish almost every cast for about 15 minutes and then it just shut off for me, the water was mostly clear last night, you could see about 3 foot deep in some of the pools, the fish laying at the ends of the pools were easy to fish to. Roaring River did not flood last night Tim Homesley 23387 st. hwy 112 Cassville, Mo 65625 Roaring River State park Tim's Fly Shop www.missouritrout.com/timsflyshop
Kansas Fly Fisher Posted September 8, 2007 Posted September 8, 2007 Glad to hear that. Wish I would have held on a bit more before changing plans now. We're going to Big Brutus with the granddaughter today. They are having their first hunting and fishing expo. Thought we'd see what it was all about. I'll post about it later. Fishmeister Posted September 8, 2007 Posted September 8, 2007 John do you have any details about the hunt/fish expo. Is it outside, rain might be a problem, might head over myself today.
Kansas Fly Fisher Posted September 8, 2007 Posted September 8, 2007 Sorry Fishmeister, didn't get your post until our return trip. We didn't have much on the way of details but it's only about a 20 mile drive for us so we started that way. Turned out it was outside under a pavilion and they had it rain or shine. It was okay, especially for a first time event. I'll probably go back next year if they decide to have one. I'll post a report on it on another thread but for now my granddaughter is calling. So, it's papa time. John Born to Fish, Forced to Work KSMEDIC.COM
timsfly Posted September 9, 2007 Author Posted September 9, 2007 The park really looks good, 2 more inches of rain and I think we would have flooded bad, but we didn't and it didn't and the river looks great this morning, still stained but you can see fish in most of the holes, so if the rains don't come and hammer us again, the river should really be in good shape the rest of the season. Wayne SW/MO Posted September 9, 2007 Posted September 9, 2007 Tim has all this rain had a significant affect on the spring output? Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
