Crippled Caddis Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 <Or am I overlooking something else all together> Yes you are---you're ignoring the single most critical factor--- your own preference in rod action. Someone may very well suggest a great rod, for THEIR casting style, that you will absolutely detest. Ultimately only YOU can pick a rod that will work to your liking. Get out and cast your choices before making a decision. If you find one that 'speaks to you' get it. With a rod that fits you like a bad habit you can do many things well---even some things the rod was never meant to be used to do. I look for rods that tell me with the very first cast that we're gonna be friend that can work together to solve any casting or fishing problem. I couldn't care less what the label says, the price (within reason) or the advertising hype. "You need only reflect that one of the best ways to get yourself a reputation as a dangerous citizen these days is to go about repeating the very phrases which our founding fathers used in their struggle for independence." ---Charles Austin Beard
