strangercreek Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 I think the 270 rods gone but there are a bunch of CV2 and Classics for $20-30 with no tubes. I wonder if they are demos, used, or what?, not assuming anything but there is a bunch of them and the seller keeps starting new auctions. The grips on the rods in the pictures look good. Like BPS rods or not, these are a good buy. (hopefully they are not stolen) ebay search for "white river fly rod"
Bob A Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 There was a time when you could pick up excellent bargains on fly rods at the BPS catalogue outlet store here in Springfield, often at 50% off retail price, as well as other fly fishing items such as wading boots, etc. This resulted in problems for the retail fly fishing section in the main store and hurting the retail sales. I was told by informed sources that BPS is now selling those items (and other items) to EBay dealers so as not to hurt the retail store. In fact, I haven't seen a fly rod for sale at the Outlet store in ages, so there must be some truth to this. In all liklihood, the rods you mentioned for sale on Ebay were purchased by the Ebay dealer direct from BPS. Bob A Springfield, MO
flyfshn Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 Could be because they are all listed by the same guy. Have never seen a 5# with a fighting butt. Fish On! strangercreek Posted September 11, 2007 Author Posted September 11, 2007 I haven't been to the outlet store in a while. That is really interesting though...thanks for the info Jason
Thom Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 The outlet store at BPS did get rid of the bargan close outs. Last year I purchased a 6 wt 9' rod for just carrying around in the Tahoe for 39 dollars. they had probaly 30 + rods in that category. This year I was going to pick up a spare 8 wgt for night fishing. Nothing there but some 80 dollar rods that were worth about 80 bucks. I did however pick a decent 8 wght 9 footer with reel, backing, line, and tippet for 79 dollars in main fly shop. I tried it out couple of weeks ago and insn't a bad rod for the price. I'll probally give it to my grandson for pond bassin and night fishing at Taney. Thom Harvengt
troutchaser Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 The outlet center has LOTS of spare spools. I'll guarantee they have every spool for every reel you don't own! Paul Rone
