Seeking advice on good wading streams. Also advice on camping spots along a river. Is anyone familiar with Mineral Creek near Silverton? Amy advice greatly appreciated. Mark The Uncompaghre River below Ridgway Lake is a wonderful tailwater to wade fish in beautiful foothill country. Not easy fishing but there are some big, BIG fish. I'd highly recommend Pa-Co-Chu-Pak campground along that stretch of river. There are also several heavily stocked ponds that offer easy catching. That's nice because those tailwater trout can induce absolute headaches at times. I second the Mesa Verde rec. One of the coolest places I've been. Quillback 1
Mark Posted Tuesday at 06:36 PM Author Posted Tuesday at 06:36 PM I am looking hard at the Lake City area. Is anyone familiar with the Lake Fork of the Gunnison? I found a couple primitive campgrounds (Red Bridge and Gateview) on Hwy 149 between Lake City and the Blue Mesa Reservior. Both look like they are off the beaten path. It looks like good wading water around both. I think I read the Lake Fork is decent fishing. Is anyone familiar with where I am talking about? We are planning on late July and thinking that may be prime tourist season in Ouray. Still, it's hard to beat the scenery around Ouray and Million Dollar Hwy. Is Lake Fork a scenic area? My buddy's wife's first trip to CO and want an area with a few nearby day trips - another plus for Ouray area. Would Lake Sans Cristobol a good option for camping and fishing? Thanks in advance
