Looking to buy PDA/Smartphone so I can receive e-mail right away. Which one do you have? Which is the best? Which is easiest to use?

Cardiac, that is an easy one for me....... I work for AT&T (Cingular).....I would recommend the I-Phone. If you haven't seen/tried one, stop by one of the stores and have someone demo it for you. Very nice device that does it all and the price just recently dropped. I do not work on the sales side, I work on the network, securing real estate for new cell sites. Sad, but I dont have an I-Phone yet....still using my blackberry, but eventually they will swap out our devices. When they first came out, they asked us not to purchase them for personal use because they were affraid Apple would not have enough! There are a couple of guys in our dept that have them now and they are really cool and easy to use.

Thanks Mike! When will they be in the regular stores instead of ATT places only? I have a store three miles from the house but people say you have to go to certain locations to buy one.

What do you mean by regular stores? As far as I know, you can get them at any AT&T location or Apple stores. Where do you live? I can find locate the closest store for you and get back to you or call me on Monday at 314-650-0012. Headed to Arkansas tomorrow morning for the Conclave.

The TREOs and Blackberries work pretty well to, but if you are just wanting email/internet, the iphone would be a neat toy, not much for business environments though (at this point anyway from what I have seen).

I have seen a great deal of other cell phones that have email/internet capabilities also. Most of them work around the same type of email setup/concept

good luck....

Strangercreek, I use a Blackberry for business email and if you want to be able to feel the keyboard under your thumbs/fingers, then the Blackberry would be a better choice....but if you dont mind a touch screen, the I-phone is really nice.

Cardiac, I live in Ballwin and work at the Des Peres office....call me on Monday and I will hook you up with the Manager of the store at the Bluffs off of 141. He is a good friend of mine and will show you the advantages of all of the devices that are used for email

I have the iPhone. And while it was intimidating at first, after a couple of weeks I couldn't believe how easy it is to use. My wife has a BlackBerry and the iPhone is hands-down a much better product. It blows me away how many features it can perform and the camera takes unbelievably high quality pics. I think the 4G model can still be had for $299. Like FF says, go in and take one for a test ride.

Davekeim,

I do all the new product evaluations and support for our company in regards to cell phones, Blackberries and Windows Mobile 5 devices (today 8000+ devices in the field). The testing I do is with AT&T, Sprint and US Cellular. Sprint, currently has a better network for data when you are outside of major population areas. AT&T gets the nod inside the cities.

So doing this day in and day out I would agree the iPhone is cool and works great, but remember all these products have a very short life span (about 2 years) so purchase one knowing this time frame.

I prefer the Blackberry (it can take a good fall and still work), but everyone has an opinion. Here is the best advice, pick the phone and carrier that has the best coverage and signal strength for the area you are going to be in 90% of the time so you can get the most for your money.

I personally do not carry a device because I need a break from the real on-line 7/24 world we all live in.

I use a TREO because of work (this is what they provide), and because of the built in compatibility stuff with Exchange server(no need for a separate third party server to sync calendar, contacts, etc wirelessly). They both work with POP email/local PC sync though so both decent devices for the average user, as well as the iPhone.

I've dropped mine about 7,000 times and it still works, but doesn't look very good
