DADAKOTA Posted October 9, 2007 Posted October 9, 2007 I am looking for a Court case or legal opinion regarding the legality of fishing from a boat around marinas on Corps. lakes or on County lakes. Is it public water or off limits?
Wayne SW/MO Posted October 9, 2007 Posted October 9, 2007 If you're referring to marinas prohibiting fishing within a certain distance, as far as I know its a Corp regulation that gives them the right. word is its fueled by a concern for safety around commercial marinas. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
DADAKOTA Posted October 9, 2007 Author Posted October 9, 2007 I have found this from the Corps. http://www.swl.usace.army.mil/news&inf...s15May2007.html I am trying to establish whether it makes a difference between a Corps. lake and a County or State lake. A Jackson COunty lake tries to prohibit fishing around their marina by boat, yet you can pay to fish off the marina. Most folks do not think they can stop you from fishing from a boat as long as you stay off their docks.
WebFreeman Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 There have been a lot of discussions on the board about it on Corps lakes. You might do a search. “Many go fishing all their lives without knowing that it is not fish they are after.” — Henry David Thoreau Visit my web site @ webfreeman.com for information on freelance web design.

This sounds like Blue Springs Lake in Kansas City. I fish there regularly. The Carp are GARGANTUAN. That's a county parks department lake. Their regulations apply, not the Corps'.
