Ok, I got clearance to make a trip down there to fish next Tuesday. I am wondering what I should bring as far as flies go. I am going to fish in the park as well as below the park on RR. I am guessing the brownies are moving upstream now for their spawning attempts that will fail. What would be a good method to hook into a big brown? Let me know please. Thanks guys!

I fished a few hours yesterday at the park, I caught maybe 40 trout, caught a bunch on top using a foam ant, and then switched off to a small #18 orange fur bug and caught a bunch on that, switched to a small #18 zebra in some riffles, caught a few on that, then used a small chamois worm in brown and caught quite a few on that, and then I went home :)

Lots of fish in the river, should be good fishng next week when you are up, if the rains don't get us.

There are a few browns in the C&R area that are showing signs of spawning, I was down below the park monday looking for some browns, and didn't find any big ones spawning just small ones. The conservation dept. stocked a bunch of small browns below the park a few weeks ago.

Ok, well then, I guess I will bring the waders for in the C&R area if I feel the urge to wade. I will stop by and get some flies from you when I get into town. What time do you open and when is the opening whistle at the park? Thanks for the help!

Tim, what size hook was on that ant, if I may ask...

I was born at night, but not last night.

Where in the stream would ants be a good choice? Against overgrown banks, or where? I am just asking because I do not get to trout fish as much as I would like.

Under and around brush is always best, but I was fishing in riffles and out in open water and catching trout on the ant, but I prefer fishing around brush or tall grass.

Do you hook very many larger +16" fish on the ants Tim? I guess I will have to grab some ants and some zebras while I am at Yager's today.

I have caugth a few over 18", over the past 25 years or so. But most of the fish I catch are just average size, but the trout hit them well and when it is warm and windy, they can be great fun. I get a lot of strikes on ants and beetles.
