Outboard 8' Hydro Racing

Any you guys remember the hydro races of the 60's. They used to race arround

the Swope Park Lagoon. Wood boat races at the Pom. and the Ozarks.

I am tring to get some interested in building the little 8' Minimost.

They are easy to build and I'll even offer my shop that we can work in.

My 30'x60' barn (cabinet shop) near Oakgrove.

Build this winter to hit the local lakes next summer. Those boats are a hoot.

I feel that was directed at me. I already have a new winter boat project. It's the canoe that I was going to have done by now. Still not even close. But I'm close to starting on it again, maybe even this weekend.

Woodman I would love to see some of your work some time.

Ronnie, I've been dreaming about it for years. I just haven't gotten off my duff and done anything about it. I hope you finish yours. It might motivate me to do mine. These look pretty cool. I think they still race something like this at Rockaway beach in the summer, though I don't think they are homemade.

I built one and they are easy. The Hydros they race ,some are home made.

Any one here of the KC. Boat Club that used to have races here in the 60's.

I posted a thread on Hydroracer.net and got some feed-back from some racers in their 60's that used to race here. Interesting stories about Swope Park.
