Daddy Carp Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 If the fishes read this forum, they probably think that either nobody ever comes to see & play with them or they don't like them enough to tell others about the fun they had......boo hoo hooo ! LOL Isn't anyone fishing the upper lake area now or is the fishing so bad they just don't want to talk about it? It's been real slow for me the last couple of weeks around Beaver Crk. Don't let that discourage you though, I'm still trying to figure out what the Walleye & Bass like in there. I've found a lot of baits they, don't, like. If they don't choose one before long I'll run out of lures to offer.....then they can just starve! LOL Have a good trip & catch a limit! If you fish it, tell about it. D.C.
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted October 22, 2007 Root Admin Posted October 22, 2007 I think upper BS is one of the biggest mysteries of this area. Why isn't fishing better? Lack of structure? Crappie has been fair the last few years. And walleye usually start showing up in December and January.
crappiefisherman Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 hey daddy, last week there were bunches of kentuckies chasing shad down there in the neighborhood of snap hollar. Some small but a few very large fish.I lost one at the boat approx 5 lbs, i was too lazy to get the net and my swimming minnow hit me in the face.Crappie are there but not to thick yet, at least for me [ [
Forsythian Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 I have lived here about 3 miles from the River Run boat ramp for 12 years now... and this part of the lake remains mysterious to me. Some years there is 10 ft of water in Shadow Rock park, and some years you can wade across the channel it's so low. Sometimes the water's running, sometimes not. Sometimes it's just started running, or maybe it's been running for days(?) Empire does not have the handy phone# or internet link to check flows like the Corps dams do. The fog will run you off, Swan will flood, and sometimes the first 5 miles of lake will be stagnant and slimey. What I'm getting at is that there are a ton more variables on this water than there is at Table Rock or even other sections of BS (Kdock and below). It is hard to give fishing advice from Powersite dam to Kdock, because it'll change the next day. I've learned patience, and the ability to fish for the sake of fishing w/o getting stressed or depressed about getting skunked. That said, I've had a good last couple of weeks with bass fishing between Barker and Beaver... but it seems you've gotta have either current or wind. Looking forward to some cold-weather walleye fishing... Cenosillicaphobiac
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted October 23, 2007 Root Admin Posted October 23, 2007 Good assessment. Better than mine. I like fishing upper Bull Shoals mainly because it's very seldom crowded.
