Members Malarkey Posted November 10, 2007 Members Posted November 10, 2007 A big thanks to Steve and Bob for the breakfast, and it was nice to finally put some faces with names. Hope to see you all around real soon. Happy fishing Chris
Rusty Posted November 10, 2007 Posted November 10, 2007 I/we had a blast today. I am still questioning the clear fluid in the Mason jar Steve. Great food and great company. I just wish my daughter would not have been so shy. She normally isn't that way. hahaha Here is shot of my daughter at the end of the day. Tim, she hooked this right after you left. And, does anyone recognize the guy in this photo? He was a lot of help today. (The Professional) Thanks Tim.
WebFreeman Posted November 10, 2007 Posted November 10, 2007 Nice! I'm jealous. What is she tying up? “Many go fishing all their lives without knowing that it is not fish they are after.” — Henry David Thoreau Visit my web site @ webfreeman.com for information on freelance web design.
Danoinark Posted November 10, 2007 Posted November 10, 2007 It was great seeing old friends again over biscuits and gravy. Thanks as always to Steve for hosting it along with Bob. Murdock was there, Malarky, Flysmallie, Rusty and his daughter, Kansas Fly Fisher (John) and his wife, (hope I didn't miss anyone). Conditions were perfect. The weather was spectacular and even provided some dry fly fishing. The fish were cooperative, the place was not overly crowded. It was just a great first day c and r opener all the way around. I also got to christen a new "old" glass rod. Flies that were productive for me were 1. Blue Poison Tung Midge 2. Anna K soft hackle 3. Olive soft hackle 4. small white caddis dry A couple of snapshots - Steve and Ronnie (Flysmallie) cooking dogs and Rusty and his little one ready to hit the stream again. Rusty Posted November 10, 2007 Posted November 10, 2007 Nice! I'm jealous. What is she tying up? A Crackleback, and I must say, a very good one too. Dan, I asked you not to post the picture of the bait I was using (Cheeto's). hahaha

Kansas Fly Fisher Posted November 11, 2007 Posted November 11, 2007 A good day for me as well. Sorry I didn't get there early enough to enjoy B&G Dan it was good to see you again. Wish we would have had more time to visit and swap some lies (oops stories). Rusty, I didn't put two and two together until after you left - You're from Miami! My old stomping grounds from High School. I grew up in, and most of my family still live in and around, Picher. Steve, I'll have to try harder next time to get there before the breakfast is over; sorry. As for the fishing! One of the best two days. Sue (my wife) and I stayed over night and fished again today. The top flies for the two days were a #12 red wire midge and a #16 Renegade fished like a crackleback (dry until it sinks and then stripped back). Ended up with 13 on Friday; the best a 19" bow with two break-offs that were bigger. Today I netted 12 with a 19" and two 21" to hand. The last 21 incher was fat and weighed in at 3 pounds according to the boga. He came to hand on a olive PMS. Take care everyone and be safe . . . John Born to Fish, Forced to Work KSMEDIC.COM
Murdoc Posted November 11, 2007 Posted November 11, 2007 Hey, It was great to meet everyone! I had a great time also!! The B&G's were very good. The weather was just right. The fishing was great! The catching was very good! But the best part was getting to meet and talk to you all! It's great to meet a bunch of guys like this and walk up and you've got friends instantly. I fished with a San Juan worm till noon and they were all over it. I did manage to catch one about 5lbs.My brother fished Sat up above and he had the best day catching good fish in his life!! He had 5 fish over 3 and one of them was around 7lbs. He didn't take his camera but I have to believe him. Hey Steve I did what you told me too with my camera after I dropped it in the drink and the rice took the water right out and it's working right again! Thank you!! Rusty, You da man!! I'm going to make it a point to bring at least one of my girls from now on. I usually bring all three and never get to work with them one on one with the fly rod but I'm going to have too. See you all soon!! Smiles are free http://rdpflyrods.com/
Danoinark Posted November 11, 2007 Posted November 11, 2007 I am going to tout Mark's horn here for a minute. If you didn't know Mark builds some of the nicest custom rods in the marketplace. I had a chance to see a couple of them on Friday at RR. You all need to check out his web site to see what he offers. Dano Glass Has Class "from the laid back lane in the Arkansas Ozarks"
Rusty Posted November 11, 2007 Posted November 11, 2007 Don't worry about it John. I tied on the red midge you gave us and on the first cast hooked into a fish and lost both. Shea gave me look like why did you do that dad? I told her it was ok, because we didn't want to catch all the fish.
