Ozark Flyfishers Get Together Nov 9-11

I had a great time at the OFF outing. Good company, great fishing, good food, and great weather.

I met up with JJtroutbum on Sunday and we caught lots of fish. Also, watched my wife outfish us both. We got checked by the game warden also, we all had the proper license and such. We thanked them for checking and keeping an eye out for those breaking the law. After they left, JJ said He's glad they didnt discover his outstanding warrant, whats that all about. hahaha

I caught fish on almost every midge I had in my box. Gold bead headed zebra midge with gold wire had to be my best tho. I received alot of flies in this forums last swap and caught fish on most of them. Thanks to all that tied the flies from the last swap, they were great. I fished the riffles below the road bridge on Sat. and we fished the hatchery outlet on Sun. My wife caught her fish on variations of the zebra midge and a gray scud. She caught 2 small browns. I saw a guy catch a 4-5 lb brown in the riffles below the road bridge on Sat. Al from OFF told me about fishing a zebra midge dropper off a glow ball and I want to Thank him, caught numerous fish on Sun. using that technique. Caught 3 fish on JJ's green butt soft hackle also. Thanks to all that helped us out this weekend. If you are in the St Louis area you need to consider joinig OFF, great bunch of guys and gals. I dont get kickbacks for that either.

I said the Game warden wanted to also see my drivers license to make shure it was me, or to possibly run me for warrants.(Hay you can only have a pony tail and long beard if your willing to be stereotyped on occasion.) But after I told him to check your wife for possibly fishing with cheese he decided that I would do better as a confidential informant . And left my spotless record unchecked.

Had a beautiful day to fool a few fish. Caught fish about every where I tried and with most everything even if they weren't huge in size or numbers.

To bad I missed the banquet. From the time that Dennis and the misses made it to the stream(soonish) seems like there were a few liquid libations to be had afterwards.

On a down note those calls I was receiving??? They were from my brother and current squeeze telling me that my oldest dog. Bete a fifteen year old Brittney had passed while he was at the house to feed the dogs for me a little before four as I probably was leaving the stream. She went fast and painless and had really slowed down during the last week.I am very thankful that someone was there and I did not have to make the "decision" for her which was soon to come. She will be missed but is in a better place. With alot more birds than Missouri.

JJ: Our deepest sympathy. We lost our dog of 13 years this year. They are truly mankinds best friend. We had to put Patches down because she became paralized in the back legs and was in pain. hardest thing Ive had to do in my life to date. Our prayers are with you friend.

I had a good time at the park today. Thos pictures are a rareity. To see almost knowone else fishing around us Wow a picture really Make the release/winter seson look good.I bet tomarrow will be like that all day. Should we have turned in Sheila?

I'm glad you all had a great time. Wish I could have made it down. I did get to play with the 13 month old Grandaughter this week end and had fun with her... I mean chasing her.

I have been tying some soft hackles, including JJ's green butt and some sweeet looking scuds of assorted colors. I'm ready to go!!!! I think I'll head down on a sunday or monday morn and spend the day.

Sorry to hear about your Britt. Brought a tear to my eye. My 2 old dogs are 10 going on 11 and the pup is 3. My wife and I are very close to them and shutter at the thought of loosing anyone of them.

By the way do they have any campground open besides 23 spaces in 1?
