flyman Posted November 4, 2007 Posted November 4, 2007 Got to the water pretty late today. We arrived at about 8:40 and there was one unit generating when we got there. So, off to breakfast we went. I know this isn't the place for restaurant reviews, but we went to, I think it's called "Table Rock Inn and Restaurant". As a joke my fishing buddies and I always call it simply "Restaurant". Great food! Had the best chicken fried steak, eggs and hashbrowns! Mmmm, mmm! Ok, now on the the report. They shut the water off at about nine. We got suited up and on the water at about 9:40. Fished the flats between 1 and 2. There was a HUGE midge hatch for the first 45 minutes we where there. I was using a size 20 red zebra midge tied below a size 16 tan scud. 7X tippet. like I said, I was using red, but I honestly think they would have hit any color midge pattern. It was pretty steady there on the midge. After about an hour they stopped hitting the midge and were taking the scud consistently. After that slowed down I gave them something else to look at and tied on a red butt, size 18 with a size 16 grey scud below that. Caught some good numbers till we left at 1:30. The fish fought hard and were very aggressive. There were plenty of decent browns all through the flats. I could see several 15 - 20 inchers stacked through there. I was a little worried that it would be slow today. I have heard some say it has been slow. I have been fishing at night for the last month, so I didn't know what to expect, but it was a very good day. And the breakfast was great!
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted November 4, 2007 Root Admin Posted November 4, 2007 And you were worried about the water... Thanks for the report. We had alot of rainbows brought in yesterday. Quite a few caught off the dock on worms and power bait. Fish midged morning and evening... I pushed off with a boat in front of the dock last evening and caught a few on a red zebra myself- one small brown and the rest rainbows. Good reports coming in on fishing the trophy area above Fall Creek using zebras. 3-4 feet deep in the channel and 12 inches on the flat.
