Members caddisflyking
Does anyone have a report for the Meramec River? I love the current, but it is too far for me to go for a one day trip... The last time I was on the Meramec (early spring), the Rainbows were big. fat and healthy! But, I could not find the browns... Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted November 20, 2005 Root Admin Share Posted November 20, 2005 If I could find someone to report on the Meramec River/Park, I'd love to put a section on the forum just for the Meramec. Anyone? Anyone know anglers who frequent this river?
Ted Calcaterra
I am glad to see you add the section for the Meramec River. I know that myself and many other flyfishers from the STL area fish it quite ofen because it is a fairly easy drive. I look forward to seeing posts about this river and hope to make regular contributions.
Members albright3
lilley, i live about 20 mins from the meramec. i will report as often as i can if you put a meramec section on this board. as far as the most recent report, i fished it 2 weeks ago from today and only fished in the park(catch and release every day) I caught 3 on #16 tan scuds up by the first bridge. one was a beautiful rainbow that was 21 inches-5-5 1/2 lbs. the other two were 12 inchers. i then fished another hour or so between stephole and granny hole(toward the beginning of the park as well) and caught 3 more on egg flies(all which were stockers) The river this time of year is down a little and the water is a bit cloudy(can still see to the bottom though). As far as the trophy trout section, I havent heard much about it recently other than two guys with spinning rods catching quite of few rainbows on deep diving crawdads. I havent been able to find the browns this year.
