As a kid I took some taxidermy classes and still have the little air brush I bought. I use it to paint solid colors and use sharpies to add some minor details. Not perfect but its fast, cheap and I still catch fish off them.

Only downside is the paint job dont last long if you use it alot. But with an old rag with some acetone and you can do it all over again.

Wow, I've seen some nice paint jobs since I started browsing around. Do you normally buy the baits from them as well? or are you just sending in your own baits to have painted?

It depends on the business. Some guys keep some lures on hand. I for instance keep wiggle warts, and Rogues on hand as they are the most popular for me to have painted custom as a new bait. Tim Hughes will paint new ones for you. Some guys will only do repaints. Some guys only do custom building and painting of wood baits.

Clear as mud?

The best thing to do is just call whomever you are interested in painting for you and just talk to them. Many people have a "favorite" crankbait. One that, for some reason, just outperforms the rest. When you have used it till the paint is gone, or you want a different color, send it in. Other people like a certain type of lure, (e.g. Norman DD22) but it don't come from the factory in your favorite color. They send those in.

Does this help?

The only standard is, take the hooks and hardware off before sending them in. the Mailman likes it better that way, and you can get by cheaper sending it. That way we dont' have to try and keep track of your hooks after we take them off.

That would we about the only thing that everyone will want you to do.

Any other questions and you want to talk offline, I could send my phone number to you on a PM if interested?
