Members Firefish Posted November 10, 2007 Members Posted November 10, 2007 Are hot glue eggs legal in the trophy area? They aren't really what would be considered a soft plastic bait, but they aren't really a hard plastic either. They have the same transluscent qualities of the real thing. You can also make egg clusters and you can get the glue sticks in a lot of different colors over the internet. I thought about trying to make some, but I didn't want to skirt the rules. Any opinions?
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted November 10, 2007 Root Admin Posted November 10, 2007 I would think they are legal. It's a bonified fly tying material. As long as it's not scented. It probably would be up to each individual agent. I would think they'd let it go... but I could be mistakened.
Leonard Posted November 10, 2007 Posted November 10, 2007 I was using these about 2 years ago and got checked..I recieved a ticket. at that time the agent informed me that it was an illegal fly.. the glue is concider a soft plastic, although I see some people still using them. but check with the other agents... like Phil it all depends who it is. http://www.taneycomonights.com
Members Firefish Posted November 10, 2007 Author Members Posted November 10, 2007 Thanks. I'll probably skip them on Taney, but I believe I will try some on the White in the non-trophy areas. By the way Leonard, I tried some night fishing earlier this week when I was in Branson. That was some kind of fun. Did great one night and not so great the next. It was a whole different sensory experience, and it sure was a lot less crowded.
Leonard Posted November 10, 2007 Posted November 10, 2007 Firefish.. I was there wen and thur night... wen night.. was very slow with 3 units on.. thur night was awesome!! but both night we caught an 18+in brown... so it wasnt all bad how did you do?? http://www.taneycomonights.com
Members Firefish Posted November 11, 2007 Author Members Posted November 11, 2007 I fished Tuesday and caught several nice browns and rainbows, including my biggest brown to date, which was 24 inches. Only fished a couple of hours because I was going back out at daylight the next day. Wednesday was a lot slower, with only a couple of average rainbows. This is my first time to fish the brown spawn, but I guarenty I'll be back.
Micheal Kyle Posted November 11, 2007 Posted November 11, 2007 I showed the glue eggs to an agent about 10 years ago and he said as long as they have thread on them it was a legal fly. With that said I still have never fished them down there. I bet they would be killer, I do have some friends that that tie there egg sucking leech's and use the hot glue for the egg. It would be interesting to see what Quinton, Danton or the other agent I cant remember his name would say about them. Mike does not work this county anymore and like Phil says it might depend on the Agent. Michael To Know People Is To Know Thier Ways!
BrianK Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 Is there a 'how to' on here somewhere or a link to a recipe somewhere. Sounds pretty easy but have never seen it. I'd definitely like to give em a try. I use an egg pattern probably more than any other. What about the website to order colored glue sticks? thanks, Brian
Luke Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 To buy you can go to JSFlyFishing and search for Glue Sticks. For a little info on how to make them you can go to Wapsi and see some pictures with instructions on how it's done. Hope this helps. --Luke
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted November 12, 2007 Root Admin Posted November 12, 2007 I have my online store up and running today. I think I have them; if not they should be on there.
