superfly Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 What are your favorite river smallmouth flies, soft plastics, or lures for this time on year?
retroaction man Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 clay or green colored plastic crawdads.
Danoinark Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 I would have to agree with siusaluki, a heavily weighted wooley bugger in brown, black and or olive or even combinations. Any real meaty looking bug that will get down in the deep holes should work. Dano Glass Has Class "from the laid back lane in the Arkansas Ozarks"
creek wader Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 I agree with siusaluki"s choices, he hit the nail right on the head. The key is fishing real slow, on the bottom, use natural colors. That's what works for me anyway. wader
Danimal Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 Weighted bunny-leech in green, brown, or black on a sinking tip line if water depth calls for it. Dan-o RELEASE THOSE BROWNIES!!

Gavin Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 It depends...fall smallmouth fishing is usually really slow for me, even with spin tackle. To many leaves in the deep back eddies where they hold this time. As for favorite flies...I do 90% of my smallie fishing with two flies..one is a Gaine's Sneaky Pete, the other is a sparkle minnow. http://www.ozarkflyfishers.org/pages/flies...rkleminnow.html its really hard to beat a sparkleminnow any time of the year. Brown and Orange works great sometimes, pearl works best sometimes but its always worth a few fish. Olive with red flash, or green flash can be hot at times..In stained water I go with black or chartruese. Cheers.
Members hornyheadchub Posted November 15, 2007 Members Posted November 15, 2007 If I were only able to choose one fly for smallies, regardless of time of year, it would be a grey over white clouser with red eyes- lead or bead chain. My $.02
