fly2fish Posted November 19, 2007 Posted November 19, 2007 My son and 3 of his friends from church camped and fished Thurs-Sun at Roaring River. They had been planning it for a month or so, I told them the park closed at the end of Oct. but would open Nov.9 for catch and release only. They almost changed their minds and went somewhere else, but I said the campground would be open and your flyshop would be open Fri-Sun and to stop by. I want to thank you for hooking them up with the right flies and whatever else they needed. They did alright for what they wanted to do catch a couple or more apiece. They did get cold Thurday night and got robbed by the raccoons a couple of nights but had a blast fishing and hiking nevertheless.
timsfly Posted November 19, 2007 Posted November 19, 2007 I'm glad they had a good time, this has been a great Catch and Release season so far, there are so many 3 and 4 lb fish in the river and enough 5,6, and 7 pounder to keep it interesting. Those pesky coons eat good in the park, they are very good at getting coolers open, they love bread and hotdogs. Flysmallie Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 Steve vs. the coons Opening a cooler? Steve wins this event. Coons are good at this, but no competition for Steve. Loves bread? I've seen Steve eat it as long as it's encompassing a hot dog or covered in gravy. Coons will eat it all by itself. I'd say the coons win this one. Loves hotdogs? While I know that MrDucky can eat more than anybody, you will never see Steve without a package or two. He acts like he is just trying to be nice and feed everybody, but I think he's addicted. There has to be a support group that we can get him into. Steve blows away the competition on this one. I bet it was Steve. You gotta keep your eye on a guy that drives around with "Old Great One" on his tags.
