Bob I received the fly yesterday. Thanks. That was very generous of you. It's a really nice looking fly as well as looking pretty simple to tie - my favorite kind (LOL).

I do have one question though - that barred olive marabou - is that something you obtain locally. I don't recall seeing it at either BCO or bass pro in Springfield.

thanks again,

Greg

Greg, I picked that up at River Run Outfitters in Branson. As a matter of practicality, I really don't feel color really makes that much difference. I just try and stay with a brownish and/or olive but should work with any color.

Bob,

Thanks for sending the fly! Since I had all the parts I started tying a couple. I think I have it right. the tail looks to be tied in vertical like a fish tail, then I palmer the rest of the feather up the hook to the eye. I keep pulling the marabou backwards, towards the hook bend, as I wrap so when you're done the feathers are angled slightly back. Hope i got this right. It looks like yours. this thing must have some great action in the water! I have never tied on marabou that way before but it looks good. thanks, again

BTW, my local fly shop had one pack of the Wapsi marabou in stock. Cabelas and bass pro had none. Not the easiest to find I don't think. I would love to try some light brown ones with dark brown stripes.

Anyone else tied on of these yet? I think I'm making too much work of this? Mine take awhile to tie. I'll try tieing the tail in seperately then palmer a feather up the hook shank starting about mid way like my sample.

RcGuy, watch your mail box. Getting something to you to show how the tail is tied in...Yep, it is a little tricky but once you see it, you'll have no problem. Hope it helps.

Bob-

Sorry for the delay, I got busy and could not get them into the mail. They are on the way!!

RCGuy-

Try and wetting your marabou. I wet mine then put a couple of wraps on and pull it up for the tip length. Bind it down then twist the long end a couple of times and palmer it up the hook shank. Tie it off and fuzz it up with a brush or pick. Pluck it for shape/length. It's not pretty but it does work.
