Rich,

Pentax Optio it's water proof and and shock resistance up to 10 feet. All the pics that I put on here are from it and I also think phil and leonard have one. they are 250-300 dollars. Lawrence Photo Talk to Jerry.

Not water proof, but rather water resistant. World of difference here. Be careful.

OK... I'm not a photo bug by any stretch, but should not the White Balance setting be changed for indoor shots vs. outdoor shots? I know I brighten my photos when taking them indoors and sometimes forego the flash at all relying on natural light if there is enough.

I would agree on going to Lawrence or other photo shop - just like going to BCO vs. WalMart or the big log cabin on Campbell looking for fly gear. At Lawrence or BCO you have someone there who knows what they are talking about in what they sell...

Without a doubt the WB affects picture quality. My Pentax K10 has a neat little trick. Take your picture, press the Fn button, select WB and the last picture you took appears and you can select the different WB options and watch the pictue change right before your eyes. However, if your ISO is too low when shooting indoors, adjusting the WB won't do squat. Not sure about Nikon or Canon though.

The pentax Optio is water proof for up to 10 feet it says it in the owners manual and on the front of the camera. I talked to Jerry and asked him and he confirmed that I was right.

I did see the new Nikon D40x and it looks nice for the money.
