hfdhoosier
The Ozark Flyfishers are having an outing @ Montauk Dec 7-9. I joined the St Louis based club 2 months ago. The wife and I went to Bennett with them in Nov. and had a great time. The wife and I will be at Montauk late Fri night and fish Sat. and Sunday. We are staying in our pop-up at Eagles Park. Anyone else planning to be there? Come on down and enjoy the fishing. NoLuck
Hey Dennis, I talked to a buddy that was down a week ago and he did pretty well on midges and small buggers. Olive seemed to be the color of choice. He said he was running a dropper under a #14 or #12 EHC. Use a dropper in size 18 or 20. I hope to get down to Bennett or Montauk as soon as deer season is over. I been hunting for that big buck and I haven't had much luck at it this year. I passed on a few smaller bucks and many does but, I still have sausage and jerky from last year. Take care and good luck. OK back under my rock!! rcguy
Well Dennis, how was the fishing??? The weather here in KC was BAd as I'm sure you know. I'm hoping to get down to Bennett sometime over the holidays but who knows. I have some new secret weapons to try out! (it does require a small amount of C4 :-) ) No Luck, come out of the woods, man! The fish miss you! LOL ALSO if anyone is going to Bennett this winter please post. Jerry
hfdhoosier
Rcguy, We had light mist on Sat and heavy rain on Sun (on and off) but the fish were biting so it was tolerable. Caught most fish on a size 20 black zebra midge with gold beadhead and gold rib. no huge fish caught but some real nice ones. The wife and I got trapped by the ice storm that came in early on Sun. so we stayed an extra night and left on Mon, the wife felt more comfortable with me driving in daylight than at dark. Hope we can hook up and do some fishing together this winter. Im tied up till after the holidays now. Good luck if you go. If that marabou leech works, I'll have to beg you for the recipe. rcguy
hfdhoosier, Glad you caught fish and made it ok. This time of year you never know that the weather is gonna do. It's suppose to be 40 today so i really should be fishing....darn work. I have a new wading jacket coming from Cabelas this week so i hope to get down for a day sometime. It will probably end up being a monday after the holidays. I was in Bass Pro sat and there was a pic of a 12 lb Brown caught at Bennet a few weeks ago on 7x tippet and a size 20 midge of some sort. HUGE fish. 4 Weight rod I think.
