Members birddog Posted February 4, 2006 Members Posted February 4, 2006 First time for catch and release season, started at 10:30 and caught 3 on black woolys and a ginger mohair leech. The trout started rising and sipping off the surface, hatch started with small white fly and small brown caddis, so I tried a crackle back caught two sub-surface, then I saw a shadow move looked like a nice fish I made a cast nice drift and up came it's huge mouth and the fight was on this was the "fish of the day". 20" brown trout, wow!!!!!! I wish this park was always catch and release. At least for these large wonders.
Randall Posted February 5, 2006 Posted February 5, 2006 sounds like a hell of a day... maramec is usually a ball in the winter... i stopped off there on my way to taney the week before christmas and hooked into a monster rainbow. the smaller guys bite well too. Cute animals taste better.
Seth Posted February 6, 2006 Posted February 6, 2006 I only made it down once so far for C&R, and I didn't see any of the big fish. I hooked about a 5-6lb rainbow last year on the last weekend just up from the bathroom hole, but haven't seen any big fish this year. Where did you guys catch these fish at?
Randall Posted February 6, 2006 Posted February 6, 2006 i got into mine down from the bathroom hole across from the second to last finger before the suspension bridge, had to drift straight into its mouth before it'd take... i've been there since and not seen any big ones either Cute animals taste better.
Randall Posted February 7, 2006 Posted February 7, 2006 i'd guess 5 pounds or so... not monstoriously huge, but a sow for maramec Cute animals taste better.
